Now on to Nets tickets in November

Hey there,

This is very much of an offtopic, but I need a bit of help. Ill be coming to NYC in the beginning of November, but I still havent found a place to stay. Ill be coming with my girlfriend and we are students in our 20s, so hence the budget is not huge.
Ive been looking for rooms and apartments on different sites like roomorama.com, homeaway.com and airbnb.com, but havent really found the place that seems right.
Maybe here are some locals who have some good advice on where to find decent accommodation in NYC?

Any advice and help is very much appreciated .

Well, if you're staying for the long haul there is some quality sites like sublet.com to look for places or easyroomate.com. The cheaper prices is either Brooklyn or the Bronx for rooms itself and apartments.

I wont be staying for very long. 9 nights in total. 2 Nets games during that period .
Are there any specific areas you could suggest and areas I should definatly avoid as a northern european person?

There is not too much to see in New York City. It's a pretty boring low key city. Most everyone is home in bed by 9 or 10.



If you believe any of that for a microsecond, may I sell you the Brooklyn Bridge? :0)

Just stick to the downtown areas of the city. If you plan on staying 9 nights and just need one room, check out a few hotel spots which are usually decent with their prices around October/November.

Ive actually been to NYC a few years ago, also attended a few Nets games back then. Then they were still playing in IZOD center , last year of that.
Problem with hotels is that my budget is not huge, I am looking to spend around max $1000 on accommodation, but the less the better, because then I can afford better tickets to the games . But hotels and hostels in that price-range usually dont seem that nice by the reviews...
I might start looking for some places in Brooklyn aswell. Something near Barclays would be awesome

Have you considered staying in jersey, right outside of NYC? Like fort lee or by the meadowlands sports complex where I know there is a bunch a hotels. I say this because in my experience whenever I've gotten a room for the night in NYC, they've been massively overpriced.

Or find a place in like secaucus and you can hop right on the train into penn station

After quite intensive and long search i found a room finally. It was a bit more expensive than i had planned, but Manhattan is extremely overpriced and have to pay for location.
Now on to the next thing, good tickets for Nets games

Dont have good tickets yet, but will be looking for them. But atleast got a place to stay now.
Can anyone give me good price guidelines on what is a good deal for tickets? For one game I want to buy VIP tickets near court, but dont wanna overpay. The other game I will probably buy just some cheaper tickets. Where could I get the best deals and when is the best time to buy?
Ill be going to the Utah game on 5th and Indiana game on 9th of November.
