Wizards Training Camp 2013

Post#1 » by SUPERBALLMAN » Thu Sep 5, 2013 1:24 am

Figured with several Wizards beginning to show up at Verizon for a player organized "mini-camp" of sorts may as well start up a training camp thread...

Great news to hear Nene is in town and seemingly healthy !! Also in early are Wall, Beal, Rice, Webster, Porter, and Maynor. And it's been previously reported Seraphin and Booker have been in working with coach Newman. Gotta love the mindset the team has shown this offseason.

More encouraging news on Nene...

Wittman: "He got in town Aug. 30. He's been on the floor. He feels good. He's had a whole summer where he didn't have to worry about the pounding and the stuff he did last summer having the injuries he did and having to play on the (Brazil) national team and never gave his body a chance to recover. He's feeling good. He looks good. I'm pretty pleased with that. I anticipate him being ready to go. When did we play our last game? Five months ago? He's done a lot of good work this summer, not only from a rest standpoint but from physical therapy. He's built his strength back up. I anticipate we'll head into the season with no restrictions."

Ugh. WHEN WILL THE NIGHTMARE BE OVER???

Why is there SO MUCH TIME between NBA seasons? Can't they, I don't know, adopt a ridiculous playoff format that makes the playoffs extend halfway into summer?

Oh yeah, they did that already.

Dammit!

When did we acquire this long armed skinny alien to the team? I hope we can keep him.

Looks like Wall is on the Cheetos diet again.

Two of my more favorite picks from the group.

BB getting up.

Webster locked and loaded.

Compare his and Beals form. Pretty damn lose.

It's Eric Maynor.

A bunch of posters here should see an optometrist before driving. :sigh:

Hilarious! It's definitely Ariza, you can see a better shot of him in the pic guarding Webster.

From what I can tell from the pics, Wall, Beal, Maynor, Rice, Temple, Porter, Webster, Ariza, Singleton, and Seraphin are there.

Gotta admit I was pretty surprised to see Ariza in fact. Hadn't heard anything about him, and guys like Porter and Maynor I'd expect, but Ariza being there is great to see. I'm really liking the way this team seems to be coming together.

It is Ariza...I saw the other pic on Monumental Network's website...Ariza is very lanky.

Right. Its Trevor A. I was just messing around. You can see from other pictures and what he is wearing.

But man...Now you know how he defenses and gets out on shooters and lanes so well. His arms are freakishly long.

I wish there was a way we could keep him. I like him on the team. What he does isn't going to be so easy to replace. Otto isn't likely to be able to replace that for at least 2 more years.

He seems really about average. I think his defense is good enough to compensate for slightly below average usage and efficiency, but I think he is a replaceable player. If there is a big drop off with Porter replacing him after this season, then the Wizards have bigger problems than having let Ariza walk.

Josh Childress to join Wizards camp...

I guess they could waive Singleton. Not sure why they'd be doing this. Maybe a trade that sends out Ariza is in the works??

Temple ready for training camp challenge, sees himself as top backup to Wall and Beal...

http://www.csnwashington.com/basketball ... re-intense

"I'm gonna push for that second spot behind John (Wall). They brought in Eric who is a good point guard who can back up John. I'm also going to be looking for that second spot behind Brad"

"The last three months of the season, me and Ernie talked about that, I shot 41% from three. If I could just continue that and just start that from the beginning, that's what we need for guys to knock down perimeter shots for John," Temple said. "People don't understand in the D-League I was shooting 39% from three. I was a three-point shooter. Make my perimeter shots and be the defender that I am, that's all we need."

We have signed Xavier Silas to a TC deal. Who is Xavier Silas, you ask?

Keep in mind that "Xavier" rhymes with "savior" -- which would be good except that "Silas" rhymes with "useless."

He's an undrafted 25 year old guard. If he transforms into a low-post beast power forward he will really help. Or the other thing he could do is take over at GM.
