Official Speculation Thread (Pt.LXI Countdown To Preseason)

I watched just about all of our summer league games, and I didn't see anything from Harkless that made me think he was going to be significantly better at things that he wasn't already decent at. His shooting still wasn't very good. His ball handling was only marginally better and still not that good by the standards of NBA wing players. He looked stronger, and his finishing at the rim was nice, but that was already his strong suit.

I hope he develops a complete offensive game to go with what seems likely to be elite defensive ability, but I don't see a reason to think he's going to improve more than other players typically do at his age.

Did you watch him in the Euro games? He killed it on offense and got absolutely destroyed on defense. Career situation player for sure. But, if he is good for 10-15mpg at the position he was drafted, then it is a successful draft pick because I bet half the players drafted before him don't last as long as he does in this league.

You guys are forgetting that Nelson will get injured and only play 60 games or so, and we will play Oladipo heavily in those games he is off. I mean REALLY heavily, like 40 mpg.

Oladipo will end the season as a the Rookie of the year because he will log close to 35 mpg.

Well, like I said at the end, that's my guess for the start of the year. I fully expect one of our 3 vets to either be traded or injured before the trade deadline, thus changing all the numbers.

I have this feeling that none of the vets are moved. Jameer will likely have some sort of injury but I think they roll with Aaron and Glen for the whole season then trade them next year. There really is no rush to do anything tbh.

I say this based on two factors: 1) the organization frequently chooses not to make moves even when those moves seem obviously necessary to the rest of us, and 2) the reasons we have for trading Meer, AA, and BBD were just as valid last year as they are this year, and they weren't traded, so if the decision makers are the same and the reasons for a trade are the same, then I don't see a reason to expect a different outcome.

The Magic have stated over and over again that this season was about player development. I think we can assume said development will come from playing and not sitting on the bench. There is always something to learn from guys who have been there, both Meer and Baby have finals experience, Baby was pretty big in the win for Boston. At least worrying about a line-up gives us something to do.

Rob knows who is in next years draft guys. Tanking while trying to create a winning culture is hard to do, not to mention all the criteria that we as fans don't know about. Do you guys think NBA GM's are lining up to be Rob's next lady friend? It will only get harder from here, let the man work.

There isn't an immediate need to move anyone at this point, and I think the idea that our new players wont develop if our vets stay is way overblow and honestly alot of people want a trade for the sake of making a trade.

Our front office isn't stupid. They probably know that we need to dump the vets but if the ideal trade isn't there, they shouldn't force it. Sometimes the best move to is to do nothing and stand pat.

Orlando Sentinel: Magic are bringing to camp bigs Solomon Jones and Michael Eric and wings Manny Harris and Kris Joseph.

13 days before camp opens, Magic are STILL negotiating with Hedo Turkoglu on his buy-out. Turk owed $12 million, only half guaranteed.

Obviously, the Magic and Hedo Turkoglu have different buyout numbers in mind. Turk in no hurry, with no other deal apparently in hand.

The Magic are bringing 2nd-round pick Romero Osby to camp. Still negotiating his contract.
