Browns Trade Trent Richardson to Colts

Post#1 » by Da Schwab » Wed Sep 18, 2013 10:27 pm

The Cleveland Browns have traded former first-round pick Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first-round pick, according to a league source.

Cleveland selected Richardson with the third overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft out of Alabama.

Richardson rushed for 950 yards and a Browns rookie record-tying nine touchdowns last season.

Uhhh... What?

In other news that makes no sense, IND subsequently trades Luck to the Broncos for thier 2014 1st round pick, lol.

Seriously though, what is Clevelands motivation for this? I mean they just used a top 3 pick on him last year to be their franchise player. He had a great rookie year, then they just dump him for what's likely to be a late 1st round pick next year?

Makes ZERO sense. I mean even if they are tanking and looking to stockpile picks, why would you trade away basically a 3rd overall pick for like the 20th pick?

They could be stockpiling to trade up and get either Boyd or Bridgewater IF they don't get the first pick?

Or, they're banking on ending up #2 and getting whoever the Jags don't pick.

They'll now have something like 2 picks in the first 4 rounds. That's pretty big for a team with no QB.

lol. You cannot attempt to validate this trade. It is horrendous. Richardson for what? Maybe a 15th-20th pick if you're lucky? WOW.

Just awful.

I hate this move for Cleveland. What in the world are they thinking, that they weren't thinking last season? Can someone explain this to me?

Fox Sports reporting that the Browns didn't like how Trent fit into the offense. WTF. Just stop giving Cleveland teams good players. It'll make it easier on the fans.

God hates Cleveland.

ESPN is also reporting LeBron wants to come home to the Cavs, but they are going to pass because they don't think he fits in their offense anymore LOL

What the actual ****. If you ever want to learn how to lose games, just watch the Browns.

Meh. It's not that bad for Cleveland. Richardson has averaged something like 3.5 yards per carry and they got a first round pick for him.

WOW!!! The Colts get a steal to say the least. In less important news, Trent getting out of that black hole of an offense really helps my fantasy team.

Ridiculous. So Indy ends up with the best qb and rb of last year's draft.

Like it a lot for Cleveland. TRich wasn't going to take them anywhere without a qb. Might as well rebuild proper.

As a big Colts fan I dont like this move (im definitely in the minority)

RB's are so devalued in the NFL now, plus they have very short careers...especially ones who are power runners. I would much rather use 1st rd picks on positions where a player can be elite for 8-10 years, not 3-5. If u look at super bowl winners the last several years most didnt have an elite back (rice being the exception)

Yup.

I barely watch the Colts, but it sure seems like they're pushing all their chips in prematurely. Thought they were (at least) another good draft away from real contention, but Irsay seems extremely impatient.

Agree 100%, even with TRich this team is nowhere near super bowl caliber.
