Nice draft: picks #4, 6, 12, 16, 17 ;-)

Post#1 » by vmor » Thu Sep 19, 2013 7:21 pm

Lakers got 5 top-20 draft picks this summer:

4 ... Wesley Johnson .. 2010 sg/sf
6 ... Chris Kaman ...... 2003 c
12 .. Xavier Henry ..... 2010 sg
16 .. Nick Young ....... 2007 sg/sf
17 .. Shawne Williams. 2006 sf/pf

With Jordan Farmar at point guard [at #26 in 2006] you get a decent "starting five" plus a spare, BASED ON THEIR PERCEIVED DRAFT POTENTIAL. I know, I know, potential...
but still a bargain at those prices :D

All we need is Michael Beasley to complete the set

Dont know if its something to brag about. But if your trying to show examples of players that didnt live up to expectations......then point taken.
I am such a lucky NBA fan. 8647 My favorite team went from the most greedy and racist owner to the most ego driven dumbass owner in all of sports fdt.

Just shows when players leave college to early or can not raise there college game to the next level. What you did then is not what you are doing now. But they got paid for it, so that is something. But it is the next big payday that might never come. Bank those checks and hope there is more to come in later years. Only 1 Kobe who last 18 years. The rest fall to the assistant coach jobs...

One can dream of stealing a 'Bron or a 'Melo - or try to develop a set of found bargains into valuable contributors.

The new CBA seems to point to the second route. These guys clearly showed good potential at one time. It got mostly wasted (except Kaman) by themselves or by the clubs that drafted them. Let's hope that Lakers have the staff to help them develop, and the players have the will to learn from the past.
C'mon guys, the glass is half FULL

Greg Oden would've looked good on that list

more often than not thats what the result of tanking looks like, not the superstar that most think they're getting.

. Exactly. I'm a huge lakers fan watched them over the years though I look at this roster and I think it stinks I'm not sold on why we sold Kaman running two 7footers went well last year under Toni. The only player I'm half excited about is Young. I'd be surprised if we made the playoffs to be honest.. Farmer is the most exciting signing going into this season by far just wonder how that will work with Nash
