Which they would not be talking about already if they were really planning on playing him 10 minutes a night or more as a significant part of the rotation

How would they know? Has camp started or something? We've seen how well he's grasping the offense/defense?

I think they will decide that a bit later.

Yep, we have no idea how Giannis will be in the NBA, but seeing as how he is only 18 years old I highly doubt he'll be much of a contributor at all. The D-league could easily present itself as the obvious option at any point during the season.

I think Drew has even said it's going to be a slow process and a big learning curve. I have the over/under at about 500 minutes this season.

Might be true, though I think Kobe was a skinny little 18 year old. Granted tougher comp, but you never know.

You saw what I was doing.

In Kobe's recent Kimmel interview he hit on the fact that all he did was focus on basketball when coming into the league. It seems like Giannis has the same sort of mentality, maybe he can do something year one. Perhaps not but the potential to do it is there. While I don't expect him to have an impact, I won't be too surprised if he's able to.

As I've said several times before in this thread, with Delfino recovering from surgery on his broken foot Giannis should get lots of time in camp and the preseason so we can get a good read on where he is at. A skinny Durant who turned 19 the day before his rookie season started (over 68 days older than Giannis) started 80 games and played 2768 minutes.

I'm really looking forward to watching Yanni grow as a player. I love his size, skillset and attitude. Between him, Knight, Henson and Sanders I haven't been this excited about a Bucks team in a long time.

He looks a good pick. The Bucks tried something clever this time- copy what the Spurs front office would do (or in this case, pick the guy a former Spurs guy wanted- Ferry). Let's hope him liking Giannis wasn't elaborate smokescreening.

Giannis Adetokunbo gave a recent interview to greek media.
http://www.contra.gr/Basketball/USA/NBA/antetokounmpo-apo-mikro-paidi-hthela-ethnikh-elladas.2399016.html

They talk about the NBA, his family, the Greek NT and various stuff.
A quick summary concerning the NBA, Bucks and his family:

About his start in the NBA:
GA: I am a little bit nervous leaving Greece. The US is a different world. But I am good and I want to fulfill my personal goals. The Bucks are a well organized team. It's like a new family after leaving Filathilitikos (his former team). I had a warm welcome and I want to thank them for everything. The gave me advice for life off the court.
They told me that I am not finished growing. I will be growing for three more years.
I have to gain strength. I will work hard and hopefully it will pay off on the court. I hope to play in the NBA for 15-20 years.

On his brothers:
Two of my brothers have moved with me to the US. I hope that my brothers will play in the NBA. They will study in college

On how his family has experienced everything
They are very enthusiastic. My parents are very proud of me and my younger brothers will have opportunities for a better life.

Don't worry Yoshi, it won't take long for Bone to trade Giannis for the second coming of JJ Redick

Hammond confirms they don't have intentions to send him to D-league, but won't rule it out.

I'm kind of glad they aren't throwing him to the wolves as unpopular as it may be. I don't know his mentality but would hate to ruin his confidence. I like the fact that their talking about playing him though. An interesting storyline to follow if anything.

I'm with you there, I hope he gets his feet wet from time to time but there's no need to force him in there when he's likely not going to be anything close to ready.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
