It's going to be real tough for Pee Pee to back up his words. I mean we're talking about the league's most storied franchise in the knicks. Even if the Nyets had a better team, which they don't, they still wouldn't run NY. Com"on son. He's just hating because we made him look like the trash he is last year.

You know what? After putting in some thought and reading your sig...You make a very great point. The Knicks have a extremely great and rich history.

1) They won 2 championships 42 years ago. Our head coach was 2 years old when the Knicks were a respected franchise.

2) They tried to pretend those 2 championships are relevant by celebrating it every single year.

3) They said they were better than the Heat. Yet, that upstart franchise in the 80s surpassed the Knicks
championships in less than 10 years.

4) They extended Amare to a max contract with terrible knees. Yet, they claim Allen Houston stole money from them.

5) They were swept by the Nets the last time they met in the playoffs.

6) They were over the cap for nearly a decade with lottery records.

7) They thought a frontcourt of Zach Randolph, David Lee, Channing Frye was going to compete with Boston.

8) Nearly 10 teams have accomplished more championships, appearances in the NBA Finals and winning seasons than the Knicks have in the last 10 years.

9) The last time the Knicks won the Finals, LeBron's mom was banging West....Jerry West.

10) The Nets have more modern day sucess than the Knicks and their storied history. "Duh Mecca" has seen such great history of Jordan embarrasing the entire state of NY, Miller making the Knicks look like a D-League Team, LeBron destroying the Knicks, Kobe having regular career highs. Getting owned repeatedly by Boston.

What a great franchise and history. You guys have a tradition of losing that no other franchise can ever imagine. Cheers.

Man knicks fans are going to be so salty once the season starts and they dont jump out to like an 18-5 record. Whats weird is, after watching their team they are so blind to how they had such a hot start and what their teams strengths and weaknesses were.

I mean, they shot like NBA all-time record like efficient from three and at an insane volume. Their passing and ball protection was unreal. Losing a guy like kidd who passed at an elite level and shot the 3 well, and losing 2 3-point snipers in copeland and novack doesnt seem to even bother them. in fact, they seem HAPPY those guys wont be back with the team.

Can't wait for the excuses: injuries(again), woodson not playing to the teams strenghts, and whoever isnt getting playing time not getting enough playing time. oh, and the refs who hate the knics

Absolutely.

I was thinking about these same things yesterday.

When people talk about Kidd's effectiveness and how losing him is somewhat noteworthy, they say he was good in the beginning of the season but he was terrible in the latter half. Now I do agree that the on-court impact that he had on the team waned as the season progressed, but that does not take away the fact that his on-court BBIQ was a huge part of their hot start.

Also, I don't think people can easily Sheed's impact on them as well. He was a big motivator on that team and even though he couldn't do much on the floor, he was a veteran that the players looked up to and respected. He was there for the first 20 games of the season before he was injured and missed the rest of the season save for the last game. After his foot surgery, he was out for awhile but he came back to sit on the bench toward of the end of the season, which coincidentally coincided with their other main hot streak to end the season. He was the one who wrote the number 50 on their whiteboard in the locker room, which motivated the players to surpass 50 wins. He was the one barking out proper defensive assignments and rotations from the bench, which helped the Knicks bigs defend to an adequate level.

Obviously, Kidd and Sheed aren't solely for the Knicks success and I do believe that they will win ~50 games. But I don't think Kidd's early season on-court impact and Kidd and Sheed's off-court impact should be devalued as if they didn't mean anything to the team. IMO, that is a loss for that team and I'm not too convinced that the physical skills of Udrih, Bargs, and MWP will entirely make up for the loss of BBIQ in Kidd and Sheed. Only time will tell.

I think with kidd and wallace, that gave them 3 point shooting but it gave them TWO-WAY three point shooting. those guys could also defend and could rebound.

With Bargani, even if he does shoot at his career high level of 5 or so years back, He still doesnt rebound or defend. With MWP, even if he defends like he did 3 years ago, he isnt giving you anything good offensively.

Novack and copeland didnt defend, but they hit 3's at such a high level their floor spacing somewhat justified their presence. When i look at the knicks new additions i see too many 1-way players, and offensively they dont shoot it well enough to be top floor spacers.

not saying it will be a disaster, but the change will be noticed.

but most of all, you never hear anyone mention injury/chemistry. The nets arent the only team that added 6-7 new faces, so did NY. and the guys NY added havent played together for 5 years like the nets duo. And Bargs isnt exactly an iron man himself.

And he has plenty left even at age 36 to help the Nets win a banner!

FWIW ESPN put out a list of the projected top SF's next year based on some advanced stats including WARP. It lists Pierce as the #2 SF in the league behind Durant (apparently the author is listing LeBron and Melo as PF's due to playing more minutes at that position last year). People are just going nuts in the comments.
