mundy is such a bulldog. he reminds me so much of steve smith from the panthers. same little man complex, but they both back it up on the field.

they're definitely a chance Fats, its always a little hard to tell as a Grand Final is a different ball game.
Everything goes up a couple of levels, especially the pressure.

My biggest concern with Freo is that most Hawthorn players have been in a GF before (which they lost) while Freo players haven't. It really does seem to make a difference.

But like Dupp said, you have the best coach with the best system, he will give you every chance to win it.

^^^ The way things are going i wouldnt be surprised if freo go in close to favorites by saturday. Everyone on the footy shows this morning is tipping freo. The market its $1.70 hawks, $2.30 freo last i checked. I reckon that'll get closer.

In saying that hawks should win but freo have the right game style to beat us.We need to kick straight for once or they'll win.

A lot of little forwards are. Milne was the same. Just gotta live with it when they kick the goals and play hard.

I was thinking that when watching the Hawthorn-Geelong game.

Dockers are good at restricting attack, you have to be efficient and take your chances.
If Hawthorn can't kick straight it will make it tough. Also matters which version of Buddy turns up.

It'll be interesting where buddy plays on saturday. He hardly entered the forward 50 on friday night. Which i think he should get some credit for. Completely sacrificed his game for the good of the team.

I'd imagine he'd be back up forward against freo though but if we start getting predictable and bombing it into 50 they might move him back on the wing.

edit - but yeah we're not gonna get 32 scoring shots against freo so we cant be as wasteful as we have been in big games the last 2 years.

I think the Hawks have clearly been the best side all year but may go in a slight underdogs to Freo.

I think it's a fair assertion as the commentators stated that we have probably seen no side defend as well as Freo did in the first half last night in the history of the game.

The key to unlocking Hawthorn's short kicking game is to have the work rate to close down every Hawthorn player and not allow them the space to break through, Freo has the best ability and gameplan to do this.

How on Earth can you proclaim the Hawks as the underdog??

The have been far and away the best team all season.
They have increadible depth.
They have no noticable weakness (forwards, mids and backs are all solid).
They have a great game plan.
They have a great coach.
They have been to the Grand Final many times before.
They are playing in Melbourne.

The only chance Freo has is if Hawthorn play down to them and to into the hands of Freo's game plan - like they did last year Vs the Swans.

I can't see that happening again this Granny.

I am truly am stoked for the Dockers to make the GF, I really, really am, but they will have their arses handed to them next weekend.

And Fats: Ballantyne and Crowley are two of the dirtiest f*cks to ever play in the AFL.

But ya, they are hella effective.

I didn't proclaim anything, I said that they may go in as the underdogs.

As I said Hawthorn has been the best team consistently all year.
They are not as deep as fremantle in terms of talent.
They have a lot of weaknesses, their backline stategy involves having the equivalent of 2 loose men which Freo will not allow and their forward line functions better with Roughy as the main man with Gunston as his sidekick.
The Dockers gameplan is the best in the comp.
Freo have a great coach too, Ross Lyon is the best coach in the comp and this will be his fourth Grand Final.
This is Hawthorn's third Grand Final in six years which is very good but there are not a whole lot left from that 08 group and the experience this Hawthorn group has is losing a Grand Final.
Freo has a great record in Melbourne so I don't know what you mean.

On current form the Dockers may go in as slight betting favourites is what I meant and I can see why.

Ross Lyon is a freaking great coach, the best coach in the game and his side are playing some of the best football of all time at the moment, some people call it ugly football but it is perfect football for winning.

I agree with a lot of what you said except hawks don't have a lot of weakness's anymore and freo are no where near deeper than them "talent" wise.

it's a shame that it's the 2nd half of those 1 PM games we'll miss out on. but, hey, it's still the final of EuroBasket.

My home county voted 5-2 to ban Ralph Ellison's The Invisible Man from school shelves. I am seriously pissed to the max.

Freo are looking fit and ready to go.

Hawthown have many game changing players.
Buddy Franklin is always a wild card if he's on he can win a game almost by himself, when he's not, he can do more harm than good. (Think an aggressive version of Diaw who likes amphets) Roughhead is always a good forward, Mitchell in the midfield, Hodge is a great leader.

They really are a talented team, it will be tough.
