Around The NBA 4.0
Man, is article makes me wonder how long the Buss family will keep their ish together. If I'm the rest of the league, I'm pretty interested to see how bad the in-fighting gets.
Other than Phil's exit interview where he talked about his relationship with Jimmy, this is the only thing I can recall on record that confirms some of the bs that's been reported....

Wow that's actually a lot more candid version of the events than I had known until now. I think if Jimmy screws up the free agency, he's about done with his siblings.

Yeah, how does the family structure work? Anyone know? Is Jimmy ever able to be voted out of his current position? (Not saying he should be, yet.) Does he have to answer to anyone else?
Feel like for Dr. Buss to be so confident that this could all work, he'd have to have built the proper checks and balances....
But yeah, it was pretty candid. Also, sad to hear about Phil putting back on his Lakers Hawaiian shirt, getting himself ready....

thats not even an article, its apparently an excerpt from jeanie's new book. if so, she loses a lot of respect in my eyes.

Jeanie Buss "betrayed" by brother Jim?
Excerpt from: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/jeannie-buss-describes-betrayal-she-felt-lakers-hired-213459038--nba.html...
"The sequence of events — Phil almost coming back and then being told someone else was better for the job — practically destroyed me. It almost took away my passion for this job and this game. It felt like I had been stabbed in the back. It was a betrayal. I was devastated.
"I felt that I got played. Why did they have to do that? Why did Jim pull Phil back into the mix if he wasn't sincere about it? . . .
"Phil wasn't looking for the job, and then he wasted 36 hours of his life preparing for it when they were never in a million years going to hire him anyway.
"How do you do that to your sister? How do you do that to Phil Jackson?"

I mean, I like to call them how I see them, but..
If this doesn't scream incompetence within the organization, then I don't know what does.

The article itself says that even Jerry Buss wanted D'Antoni.

that's some serious gold digging to run all over your own brother to sell your book. It's not the first time she has either. For all the media talking about how she should be in charge, i'm glad she's not.

Re: Jeanie Buss "betrayed" by brother Jim?
In a subtle way, she does help Jimmy in that she acknowledges that the MDA hiring was blessed and approved by Jerry.
In the long run, that will help Jimmy in that many people think it was him who puuled the rug our from under Phil.
I just wish that the Buss siblings would all just STFU, for the good of the franchise.
Let's move on.

Re: Jeanie Buss "betrayed" by brother Jim?
None of this is surprising - What is frustrating is the fact that this nonsense and gossip has now become more of a story than the team on the court...that is the real problem.
Jim wants to put his stamp on things, obviously his Father was on board, so what is done is done...Jeanie has every right to feel the way she does, personal or otherwise.
This really has the makings of a long, ugly season.

stupid move Jeanie... writing a book on this crap is a death stroke for the family as a successful team.

Agreed, but that either means she's making a PR power grab, or that the communication between the family is really that awful. Either way, it's pretty shocking considering this is now on record and not some BSPN rumors.

Season can't start any sooner. Last season really needs to be put to rest. Jeanie really needs to calm down and let the players do the talking for the franchise...

Jeanie with the Phil Jackson move...
Not feeling it though... It's either untrue or I don't want either of them in charge of the Lakers.

she does, but she should keep it to herself. jeanie's been a big disappointment all off-season long with how much she talks crap.

I believe that as the season goes along. And if success is not attained. You folks will be in the minority. The fans will boo every time a picture or video of jim buss or mitch is shown. And the fanbase will be screamin for jeanie to take over.
