If you say so.
But, couldn't we still use him as an excuse to fire Higgins? Please?

Re: Fire Rod Higgins!!!
Green has had plenty of chances in this league, its a shame as he seems to have the right physical tools. Apart from a brain that is.

If it wasn't for the son (who I initially liked but have grown tired of), we could grab Armon Johnson off waivers. Oh well.

Re: Fire Rod Higgins!!!
I saw that. I would love to give Johnson a shot.
Not certain he is definitely an upgrade on Higgins, but I don't think Higgins is good enough for this league so who cares. Just keep rotating scrubs through until we find one we like.

I forgot that Higgins has been guaranteed, I can't see us paying for another 3rd string point guard.

i didnt bother to list the transactions since rich cho was hired since it is (and we pray) believed that rich cho is running the show, not higgins, although, higgins still has his messy handprints on the team from time to time.
i tried to remove all the noise, such as 2nd round picks and 10 day contracts and meaningless trades and signings.
i knew his track record was bad, but until i listed it all out, i really didnt realize just how bad it was.
here are his first round draft picks again + monta ellis

- jared dudley (17th)
- dj augustin (9th)
- alexis ajinca (20th)

how is it possible to blow that many first round picks and still have a job? he had 11 first round picks and 8 lottery picks and not a single all-star among them. his best pick ever was monta ellis in the 2nd round.
his claim to fame as a general manager is bringing together baron davis, stephen jackson, and al harrington and turning them into an 8th seed that pulled an amazing upset. his second best claim to fame as a general manager was building a capped out 7th seed team that was swept out of the playoffs and blown up a year later with consequences on the cap that lasted 3 years and caused the team to bottom into the worst team in NBA history.
in his 10+ years in the front office his teams have made the playoffs a total of 2 times and only twice have had winning records.

Re: Fire Rod Higgins!!!
so basically if Indy never has to blow that Malice in the Palace team up and deal the players for 50 cents on the dollar, Higgins's best moment as a GM would be getting a draft pick right this one time (Monta Ellis).

i guess you could give him credit for having the balls to trade for a fat, injured, unhappy, overpaid baron davis. i guess in the end, that deal was a plus for the warriors, even though baron really was only worth is contract that one year.
he stole gilbert arenas away from the wizards, while he was an asst with wiz, which at the time was a great move, but had more to do with the warriors owner completely botching negotiations than anything.
in a vacuum i like the trades of richardson and dudley for diaw and bell, okafor for chandler, and bell for jackson. it was all the other deals we made during that stretch that killed us. of course the okafor deal wouldnt have been necessary if higgins didnt give okafor that ridiculous contract extension, so.... and he completely negated the chandler trade by trading him a year later for nothing. and of course, we would have never had richardson if he didnt make that idiotic trade to acquire richardson to begin with.
i refuse to blame him for the kwame pick. i have spent years trying to educate youngsters and those who like to rewrite history that kwame, at the time, wasnt a bad pick. it was how the organization handled kwame that was a disaster. that draft was awful and the top players in that draft were either bigger gambles than kwame (curry and chandler), guys with limited upside (battier, richardson), complete unknowns who came out of nowhere two weeks before the draft (gasol) and knuckleheads (griffin).
however, i also refuse to give him much credit for selecting ellis. i mean, how much praise does higgins get that many teams passing on ellis, who was a fairly highly regarding player that draft, but blew it during workouts and pre-draft camp. seems like he kinda fell ass backwards into that one.

God...
Damn...

That is absolutely brutal. Ellis, Henderson, Dudley, and Jeffries are the only non-busts and the first three are the only three Higgins draftees from 2001-2009 that aren't currently floundering to stay in the league, or out of it altogether. How do you **** up THAT many times? You can literally blindly pick names out of a hat and select better than this. Let's break down this list:
Kwame over Pau, TC and countless others
Jeffries was a good pick, Dixon was an okay pick considering the disgusting nature of that draft outside the top 10, but Carlos Boozer and Matt Barnes lasted till the 2nd round, and Prince in late 1st
Jarvis Hayes was kind of a bust, David West was drafted later, can't argue too much though, that draft fell off badly outside the top 7.
Biedrins over Al Jeff, Josh Smith, JR Smith, Kevin Martin, Jameer Nelson, etc. Biedrins is flat out awful
Diogu over Bynum, Granger, etc
Ellis is the sole diamond in the rough.
O'bryant was utter garbage but there wasn't too much else in that draft, still passed on Rondo, Lowry, Redick, Sefolosha
Dudley was a good pick at 22 in 2007, but Higgins gave up on him too soon.
Augustin was a bad pick and Ajinca was even worse - pretty much the entire rest of the 1st round would have been better. Out of the ENTIRE 1st round in 08, the only players that aren't respectable role players (most are actually starter/6th man caliber) were Joe Alexander (8), DJ AUGUSTIN (9), AJINCA (20), and the final four picks of the round (Arthur, Greene, DJ White, and JR Gibbens). The next worst players drafted would be Courtney Lee, Anthony Randolph, or Jerryd Bayless. We burned not one, but TWO 1st round picks in possibly one of the most starting-caliber-player-rich draft in recent memory. This is the draft I am most pissed about- out of the top 26 picks, there were just three players that aren't even worthy of 15 minutes a night, and we drafted two of them with our two picks.
Henderson was a solid pick, and at least Higgins' last draft calling the shots was a good one.

Yup. Higgins was a bad drafter. Not Jim Paxson bad, but bad. That doesn't make Cho good though. I like exactly 1 out of his 4 lotto picks in the last 3 years, despite wanting good things to happen to Charlotte I can't justify his talent evaluation skills.

Re: Fire Rod Higgins!!!
Kwame Brown and Shawn Bradley are the two I have to defend the most, I think. So I completely agree with you on Kwame. Doug Collins as a head coach and Michael Jordan as a team-mate is absolutely the worst duo you can have as a number one draft pick straight out of high school with lack of confidence.
Ask any Bobcats or Warriors (even if his stretch there was short due to that freak lockout chest muscle injury) fan, they'll say he's a great center to have on your team for 20 minutes a game. Dude plays hard, gets rebounds and defends the post. He should have never been the first pick. Make him attend a college for two years, be drafted with the 10th pick or something in the loaded 2003 draft and he'd be a well established 10pts/7rebs guy for his whole career.

Lol looking back at the '08 draft and all the solid platers that were picked in the 15-30 range we just HAD to get Ajinca. Makes me so sick all I can do is laugh.

it gets even better when the only other player to play for us from the 15-30 range is D.J. White.

Re: Fire Rod Higgins!!!
The Brown Frown hung heavily over the '08 draft. Imagine walking away with the FO's #1 pick Brook Lopez and someone like Ibaka. We would be having completely different conversations. And, oh yeah, fire Rod Higgins.
