it doesn't take a rocket scientist to choose phil jackson over mike d'antoni. hell, all of staples was chanting it. i don't have any experience and i'd do a better job than jim effing buss. and picking d'antoni over dwight? i mean, how boneheaded can you get. it's a matter of common sense. or at the very least, let kupchak do the job all on his own, don't interefere or micro manage whatsoever and if he fails, then fire him. they teach you that in all modern management classes.
Warspite:

Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

From what I've read, Jim chose Kobe over Howard.

Its had for me to believe that with all the money and assets she has, Jeanie would be writing the book just for the (to her) little bit of money. I'd think that she more wants her side of the story out there and maybe become more popular. Maybe she thinks the Laker fans deserve to know the behind the scenes.

I'm not a big fan of writing the book but I also dont think its a game changer for the organization.

I believe, that for this franchise to be succesful and trend setting in the future, the woman needs to be the figurehead and leader of the franchise. #1. I believe, we have selected the wrong coach to lead this franchise in the future. Dantoni has not shown me anything in his past that he is capable of leading us to the promised land. Secondly, we are not promised talent. Dwights departure, might not be an aberration. Quite possibly talent may not believe that the LAKERS are the best destination, in the future, because Jim couldnt retain dwight. And top players like playin with other top players. See miami, celtics, etc Also, KOBEs presence is too overbearing. We may have to deal with him, like how chicago dealt with MJ. Revered. But pushed out. I dont think jim has the nuts to pull that one off. I believe all of these factors will lead the media scrutiny and fanbase to eventually call for Jims head on a platter.

Hopefully once the season gets rolling this stuff will be swept under the rug.

We need to start off playing good and people will forget all this crap.

we won't win much this year with this roster. Especially now that it looks like Kobe won't be ready until Christmas. Hopefully we get a good pick in next years draft and use it well.

If Jim were to relinquish his presence, I think we can do well to hire a president of basketball operations who will be a figure head and lay out the vision for roster building and basketball philosophy, like most other organizations do. I'd prefer this person to be someone who's had extensive NBA playing, coaching or front office role, someone like what Donnie Walsh, Larry Bird, Jerry West or Pat Riley are to their respective organizations.

That will go a great deal towards establishing the legitimacy of the Lakers' front office.

i'm with Slava on this. However, i'm still worried about the ownership situation. With that wealth split down among six kids, just how willing are we to spending long term under current ownership. We could have a situation much like the Yankees are having in baseball.

i, for one, am in favor of the direction towards which this thread is turning. i think there's common ground to be found here in this debate.

earl clark filled that role perfectly when pau was out. the problem was that 1. dwight had in his head that he was a post player and didn't want to pick and roll and 2. dwight's needs were catered to at the expense of pau.

I'm holding Jim accountable and if the Father was in on this to then they should've made him step down because clearly he was out of his mind if he went along with this, Mitch gets a pass because he works for them he has to agree with them they have the final say .The man that got you five titles should've been picked not this dude that belongs on a Pringles can.

I've only like this dude because we are freaking stuck with him and if we didn't have the other Mike on the books then we could just can this guy.

all in all she is the victim here, she should be in charge of the team because she is the only one that act like she has common since. This dude was hell bent on making his mark on the Lakers and I'll be damned if he hasn't done it but in the wrong way.
