Some GM could be incredibly ambitious and offer Lance something huge we can't much, but I think it's safe to say he likely will not post big enough numbers to garner a huge offer. Last year he was the 5th option on offense and we've added Scola/Granger plus a bunch of scorers on our bench.

Unfortunately Danny's just gone after this season. Only way I could see him coming back is if he took a discount and we won a title with him playing a key part. Maybe Simon would pay the tax for a year or 2 to keep a title team together.

I doubt we pay the tax for any reason. Bird has specifically stated "never" many times when referencing going over the tax line. Plus, it's not just a matter of a little extra salary and paying up to $7.5m in luxury tax (for going over the line by just $5m). Going over the tax line means also not receiving the tax distribution payments AND giving up our revenue sharing payment. In a year like 2014, that could be giving up $30m, without even adding in the extra salary and actual luxury tax payments. Going over by &5m could ultimately cost us, a huge revenue sharing receiving team, almost $42-50m!

I think it's safe to say we may never cross the luxury tax line. A team like Brooklyn or the Lakers can go over more easily as they're only receiving the barest of minimums in revenue sharing (under $3m).
