Hech **** up his perfect game?

Alvarez just saved him the ignominy of **** it up by walking a guy. That was nice of him.

He hit Fielder earlier, so he was way ahead of Hech.

Unless if Hech was trying to cover up the fact that Hendo hit Fielder... Lots of love going on in South Beach.

I trusted Fairview, and this is how I am repaid.

Also, to the best o' my knowledge it's been 16 years since the last walk-off no-hitter: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/boxscore/07121997.shtml

Wild pitch!

Alvarez survived 23 balls in play!
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Delightfully stranger as that ending was, I kinda wish that they'd walked Dobbs to face Alvarez, because a pitcher getting a walk-off hit to secure his own no-hitter is something that I don't believe has ever happened, and Alvarez is a pretty damned competent hitter for a pitcher.

Granted, it likely wouldn't have happened here, either, with Alvarez feebly grounding out only to give up a hit in the 10th, but still.

In Fairview's defense, I'm not sure it actually counts as a hit by pitch when it's Fielder at bat... Unfair competitive advantage and all.

Of course, had Leyland not fallen asleep while chain smoking his way through a sternly worded letter to the league about interleague play on the final weekend of the season, he surely would have willed his team to 10 or 15 hits... So it's all moot really.

Lind grinning like an idiot after grounding into a double play. Hopefully its his last at bat for his Blue Jays career.

.194/.227/.365 finish for JPK.

Got a RBI today though. Run producer.

This is not the time to get all moral victory-y, Jays.

I'm kind of surprised that the crowd is so into this game. I guess people really love that free tuque.

Final game of the year = final time where it's socially acceptable to get really drunk during the day, in a public setting, and yell things at a bunch of immigrants. After today, you'd have to move to Georgia for that.

So we can establish the "JP Line" as .194 and use it as a measure of futility for Blue Jays players.

The Rays somehow always find a way.
One flew east, one flew west, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.

It's over! We did it! We finished the season! Never again will I get my hopes up for this sorry franchise.

Re-sign Johnson

Gave up a while ago. Season died with a whimper.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
