Kobe Bryant looks for closing touch

Post#1 » by leeprettyp » Mon Sep 30, 2013 1:36 pm

Article by J.A. Andade

Focuses on the last chapter of Kobe Bryants career and where he is physically and mentally going into the season. Also how Kobe has always used Mariano Rivera (Kobe's a Yankee fan) as inspiration in regards to a Hall of Fame type of player who is recovering from a late career injury. Rivera suffered a torn ACL in his career at one time.

"It's the same old story," Bryant said Saturday, as the 2013-14 Los Angeles Lakers assembled and met with the media for the first time. "A guy that was written off and forgotten a little bit. He did the work, he put the time in, and he came back and played extremely well. Peyton Manning, same thing. Everybody wrote him off a few years ago, and all of a sudden ...

"You definitely pull from a myriad of those guys."

The illustrations are out there. So are the challenges that light his easily combustible competitive fires. He wants to prove that his days among the league's elite didn't end when he went down with that Achilles tear on April 12. He wants to show that the Lakers' status as championship contenders didn't end when Dwight Howard left for Houston (not that they came anywhere close to a championship with him).

Nash, Kobe, Gasol, Mike D. and the front office seem more confident about this upcoming season. So I suggest us fans hop on board, root for this team and hope for the best . Health is going to be the key issue this season, we were able to become quicker on the perimeter and bring in more scoring punch to take the load off of Gasol and Kobe. Also, after watching the media day this past Saturday, Nash looks like he'e in awesome shape.

There's also a an interview on the page with Kobe about how the achilles won't be on his mind at all when he returns.

The closing chapter of Kobe's era in a Laker uniform... The obstacles he's going to encounter coming back from the achilles injury at his age (Adande talks about how Kobe is inspired byt Mariano Rivera), the obstacles and challenges the team will encounter this season.
