Bosh: 'I'm Trying to Have Best Season of My Career'

Are you guys excited or what? We have LeBron improving his all around game every offseason, Wade back with the man who is incredibly responsible for Wade's MVP-type season in 2008-09, and now we have Bosh that's determined to be better for this team, hopefully worked on that outside jumper and getting stronger. What do you guys want see from "Our Most Important Player"? What do you think his stat line will be this season?

My projected stat line for Chris is 19 to 20 points per game, 9.5 to 10 rebounds per game, 1.5 blocks per game, 54% FG, 33% 3PT.

"I want to carry more of the load on offense and on defense," Bosh said. "It's going to take more if we want to win three in a row. And that's the goal.

Always felt Bosh is underutilized, so it's interesting to see him come with this "do more" approach. I like it, but he's got to back it up.

Actions do speak louder than words, let's not forget that he got off to a great start last season as well averaging like a double-double for a little bit then went back to his normal self. Bosh was underutilized in the ECF but he did sprain his ankle and was taken out of him comfort zone but still he has to speak up in those moments, he and Wade let it get too far into the series to speak up on their roles. In the 2012 Playoffs, Bosh was killing Roy Hibbert in Game 1 before he got hurt.

Bosh didn't get enough sets called for him, but he showed flashes if being a two option several times last season.

Interesting to hear him say something was missing last season though.

Don't want to get too carried away with preseason hype. Everyone talks a good game in the summer, we need to just wait and see what the guys bring to the table.

Spo needs to have sets for him probably to start the game off and/or in the 4th quarters. He showed really great flashes of being the 2nd option and did it well.

Last two seasons he's gotten off to great starts, but he always hits this wall around Allstar weekend that can go on for weeks where he grabs 5 rebounds and settles for jumpers. He needs to avoid that this year for you guys.

I'll say he averages 17.5 ppg/8.5 rebounds/1.6 bpg shooting 50+% from the field. His defense has improved each year since he's left Miami, he's probably the best PnR defender at the center position and he's become a better rim protector, especially with his weakside blocks.

Yeah I think this is going to be a big year for Bosh. You just get the feeling that he's due to carry the load he's been asked to ever since he signed.

Yeah, he got to such a hot start last year that some were insisting that he supplanted Dwyane Wade as the no. 2 option on offense. Of course he didn't sustain the start and had some rough stretches during the course of the regular and post season. I agree that he improved as a defender and rim protector though, it seemed like as his offensive production wained, his defensive production improved. Hopefully they both continue to improve for our run this coming season.

I am really cheering for this guy to have a good season. His contributions to the team constantly get overlooked. I would like for Bosh to get noticed this season.

All he needs to do is become more consistent. If he didn't have some of those extreme off nights, his numbers would look better. It's good to see that he wants to be more assertive offensively though. LeBron has been carrying too much weight the past two seasons, Wade and Bosh need to more again.

Bosh wasn't underutilized in the ECF, he was just being completely shut down. Doesn't make much sense to give the ball to a guy shooting 37% when you have Lebron and a band of shooters on your team.

The #1 area Bosh should focus on is rebounding. He was terrible on the boards last year, the dude went 5 straight weeks in March-April without recording a double-figure rebounding game. 6.8 for the season is bad, and the 4.3 he averaged in the ECF (in 32 minutes!) is beyond laughable. 10 a game is clearly asking too much, but 8-9 a night would be really nice.

Well first off lets not pretend Bosh is some kind of super athletic/fast superstar who can just get to the basket from the 3pt line at will. He lived in the post (contrary to popular belief) in Toronto and thrived off getting close looks/contact in the paint. The game plan we set up for him doesn't include many of those looks. He gets the ball on the perimeter and the idea is to punish bigs who stay in the paint to thwart Lebron/Wade. I wouldn't want Bosh passing up open jumpers to try and drive into the paint from that far out for a contested shot, even if closer. It's not his game, and he wouldn't be good at it. He needs to get the ball a little closer to the basket more often to accomplish what you want. However, it happens so sporadically it's impossibly for him to gain momentum or confidence when he misses a couple. And it's not how the team wants to play so he is forced into the role of shooter.
