Oh wow another LeBron vs Jordan thread.

Post#1 » by xMADEinDADEx » Tue Oct 1, 2013 8:26 pm

http://m.espn.go.com/nba/story?storyId= ... rc=desktop

Not sure if anyone read this by now, but during an interview for promoting nba 2k14, Jordan starts off by listing players he'd like to play one on one with during his prime including lebron, and in MJ-like fashion, claims he'd win them all, however he said "except Kobe, since he steals all my moves"

Any basketball analysis coming from a guy that drafted Kwame Brown should be taken lightly. Now I'm not going to say lebron would win and list off lebron's abilities, but Jordan sounds bitter.

IMO both are phenomenal. Lebron is the better team player while Jordan is obviously the better individual player. But lebron is closing that gap quickly.

Thoughts?

Of the guys Jordan named

-Jerry west
-Julius Erving
-Elgin Baylor
-Wade
-Carmelo
-LeBron

Cant speak for the first 3..but in ANY given game of 1 on 1? Prime Wade or LeBron could beat Jordan, and Carmelo would give him fits with his size alone.

lol Kobe. "Domino effect. I stole some of his (moves)..this generation stole some of mine #thecycle" No f*ggot, you stole his whole repertoire.

I'm probably part of the 1% that has never cared about this topic/debate. It's a pretty obnoxious topic.

Jordan is a arrogant Bit*h he is a hell of a player but he needs to stop feeling himself and move on, stop d**k riding Kobe as the only one that has a chance to beat him. Wade and Lebron in their primes will kick Jordan's A$$. Jordan just hates this new breed or era of the NBA generation of players and how its played like move on the game will always change.

I agree. He needs to just shut up and stop getting defensive. After reading comments everywhere I was pleasantly surprised at seeing a lot of fans are starting to turn against Jordan since they feel he keeps defending himself.

IMO, It's mostly the fans that sound defensive.

So what if Jordan says he could have beaten Bron 1 on 1, that's just his opinion. He was asked a question and he answered it the only way he knows how - with bravado. And he's done enough in his career to justify that. On the topic of drafting Kwame, what relevance does that have? He did not say he could draft better than or run a team better than all these other players. So moot point.

I for one, loved the fact that he named Wade among the ones he would have loved to play 1-1 with. That's the way I take it .. as a compliment.

I read Jordan excluding LeBron/including kobe for a list of players that could beat him to be more of a dig at kobe to be honest.

Kinda happy I saw this topic here. I saw it on GD but couldn't participate because of the restrictions on new members.

I think this topic gets overblown every single time. I remember around the ASG this year when Jordan was turning 50 even then people were discussing MJ vs LJ thing. ESPN was doing entire segments and shows around it (cough Skip Bayless, not that I watched those).

Somebody brought this up on the GD board and I can't remember who it was but it was a valid point and that's how I feel. The point is that MJ must know that his GOAT status is safe from Kobe. Although very difficult LeBron still has that outside chance and you never know.

So now all MJ does is always praise Kobe so his fans, Kobe fans, and the media in general will think LeBron still has to catch Kobe let alone Mike. The truth is that LeBron for most objective fans has already caught Kobe but MJ said in that program on his birthday 5 > 1 and that he would take Kobe over LBJ and now that the only person that would beat him is Kobe. Funny thing is that he didn't even fully praise Kobe, just gave him a backhanded compliment lol.

In the end though, these debates are just mental masturbation. Nothing comes out of it and you have fanboys on both sides jumping in defending their hero.

The reality is always somewhere in the middle. MJ would probably dominate 1 on 1 but to say he wouldn't lose to anyone is just stupid and what about MJ vs Kareem, Wilt, Shaq etc?

Jordan is probably the most rabid, instinctive protector of his legacy of any player in the history of the NBA. When Kobe was the top of the Heap and LeBron was still Ringless he said Kobe was a top 10 at his position, historically.

Now that Kobe is fading and people are talking about LeBron being a challenger to the throne he's urinating in Bron's mouth.

Jordan is just protecting his throne. A long history of that in life as well as sport. It's all speculation, this one on one BS. I won't even wade into that. The last time I checked the NBA was a team game. Jordan is the GOAT and I have no problem saying that. Let's face it, and there is some speculation here I know, bu the man was on teams that were 6-0 in championship series and should he have stayed they most likely would have been 8-0. But you have to call the terrible talent evaluating fool out on his Kobe thing. If Kobe knows your moves, Mike, then you should know how to stop them. Not rocket science.
