Trade 114

Cleveland / Chicago Trade Announced

CLE sends Dion Waiters 4,062,000 / Sergey Karasev $1,599,840 / jason Thompson $ 6.037,500 & Carrick Felix 816,482; to CHI for Nicolai Batum $ 11,765,500, Chicago 2016 2nd and $1M Cash $12.5M out for Cleveland - $ 11,765M out CHI.

Cleveland Makes room to fill roster with better fits and gets 25 year old elite wing SG/SF - coming into his own on both ends of the floor in Batum who is signed on a long term, affordable contract. Cav's believes Length is the key to success in the Association, and while Dion Brings instant energy on offense, he has yet to demonstrate a premier skill that will offset the fact he is an undersized SG. The D Wade comparisons are a reach based on what the Cavs have witnessed. We would also like to find a banger in the post to fill J Thompson's role and Sergey & Felix were both odd men out with Rasheed Solaimon's draft. Always like picks and cash! Great Dealing Keshmoney.

Chicago accepts. With the addition of Waiters, we believe we have one of the best young backcourts in the league. Waiters adds much needed offense to a team already elite on the defensive end. Batum is great defensively, but was just too inconsistent offensively for us. We also add Jason Thompson, one of the best back up bigs in the league, and Karasev and Felix, both intriguing prospects.

Atlanta has made a series of trades (Should be 116 and 117 previous #s are messed up):

Trade #116:

Atlanta sends:
Al Horford $12,000,000
Wayne Ellington $3,103,733
Total: $15,103,733

Sacramento sends:
Victor Oladipo $4,978,200
Anthony Bennett $5,563,920
Total: $10,542,120 (* 150% = 15,813,180)

Do this for our new direction. Get the #1 and #2 picks in the draft, which both could turn better than Horford. Also fit into our new uptempo style. Good dealings Ghost!

Trade #117:

Atlanta sends:
Nene $13,000,000

Philly sends:
Kendrick Perkins $9,154,342 (* 150% = $13,731,513)

Just trying to trim some salary, and Nene on this squad is about as valuable as Perkins will be. Philly needed a PF and will get a half decent vet in Nene to help them out.

Good dealings Philly!

Sixers accept. Nene will be a great help as this team pushes for the playoffs this year, and getting him for a backup that I just looked at as an expiring contract just makes it better! Good dealing Atlanta!

Wizards send:
Glen Rice JR - $816,482
Will Barton - $915,243
total: $1,731,725

Craptors send:
Chris Copeland - $3,135,000

Wizards have the cap space to absorb the remaining portion of the salary coming back to us. Wizards accept, we like Copeland's 3 and D mentality and love his athleticism. Just another player we can throw at LeBron in spurts to help limit his effectiveness.

Rice and Barton are young wings that will definitely help us a little.

Trade is ILLEGAL. Washington doesn't have any more cap space nor does it follow the 150% rule.

I think you had JUST under 1.8 before trade, I can vouch as I was looking at a similar deal to cut salary.

Still doesn't change the fact that you ended up over the cap and not through signing a player. The trade put you above the soft cap, which means that's illegal. You can't go over the cap using your cap space, and since it doesn't follow the 150% rule you can't go over the cap either. Therefore the trade is illegal.

I went over the cap because of a cap hold which is not illegal.

That is illegal. You can only go over the cap via FA signings (i.e. the Room MLE) or via trade. You can't just willy nilly go over the cap.

I'd like for you to find that in the CBA. It is a cap hold. But whatever you say boss.

3-way

Orlando get Joakim Noah(11,100,000)
total incoming= 11,100,000
total outgoing= about 5M(The Magic have about 20M in cap space)

Denver gets K.Faried(2,249,768), N.Batum(11,765,500), & MEM 2015 1st(via CLE)
total incoming= 14,015,268
total outgoing= 18,345,640

Cleveland gets W.Matthews(7,245,640) & N.Vucevic(2,751,260)
total incoming= 9,996,900
total outgoing= 11,765,500

Money works since Orlando has cap space.

Denver accepts. Hated moving Noah but I like the adjustments. Plus I added a 1st & saved about 4M.
Good 3-way, Gentlemen!

Well orchestrated - Denver & Orlando . . . Cleveland confirms the deal. Having come late to the party - Cleveland hates to move Nic Batum, whom I feel will have a breakout season in the all around, Iggy mold. But Wes Matthews blue collar - can do attitude and production at both ends of the court make the loss of Batum palatable and shoring up our Center position with Nic Vucevic was really better than I could imagine. Super easy deal dropped in my lap - wish I could take credit. Great Dealing Saul & DerrickNoah!
