Bojan Bogdanović won't renew his contract with Fenerbahce. Club wanted to sign a contract with € 2,000,000 buyout for #NBA. Player disagreed

This is the news we've been waiting for in regards Bogdanovic. This means Bogdanovic to Brooklyn next summer is on like donkey kong. It's a good scenario because Bogdanovic gets starter minutes under the best coach in Europe in Obradovic which will leave him a better player again by next summer.

This is pretty huge because depending on how this season goes and everyone returns. We could add Bogdanovic to an already established roster.

It's two fold really.

Firstly, if Bogdanovic comes to Brooklyn we add a good wing to our roster with his best years in front of him. Or secondly his value will be at it's highest point and gives us something we lack quite a bit, an asset to move.

Bogdanovic has really good value now we know he will be a free agent next summer looking to join the NBA. This isn't a pipe dream stash anymore, it's reality and we could get some really nice offers for Bogs now due to no buyout being needed and a talented euro with real upside being possibly available. I think he will have a fantastic year for Fener under Obradovic, hope the kid really takes over Europe this season.

Win win for Brooklyn.

2 things about that though...

a. He may stay in Europe if traded to a team other than BK
b. any team that signs him has to use cap space or an MLE

Seems our partners would be limited.
I want to get him here for us.

He wants to go to the NBA and with a team like the Hawks, Dallas, Pacers, Bucks, Magic, 76er's, Suns, Kings, Jazz or any team with cap Bogdanovic could make some really nice money. Barcelona etc can only offer so much and there is no competition on that front money wise, it's just a question on if he wants to play in the NBA or not.

If he does then hopefully it is with us but with the depth we have right now he might not want to be a bench guy on limited minutes which is where a possible trade could come about.

I just don't see Bogdanovic playing in Europe after this season. I believe Bogdanovic will be a Net next summer

Game is on NBATV right now.

(Man, I miss basketball...)

Didn't realize Bogs had such a quick release. I could see him having a Peja Stojakovic role, in that he should never dribble. Just play off the ball, run to a spot and bomb away lol.

It seems like he gets to the ft line a lot?

Can he be like a James Harden in the NBA?

Yeah, he definitely knows how to draw contact but they Fratello indicated that he plays in the paint a lot, which probably increases the likelihood of contact.

He's not close to being like Harden talent wise, but I can see where you see the similarity.

The problem is that Bogs doesn't have quickness nor the handles that Harden has. Harden is extremely crafty and has an array of moves that allow him to break down the defense pretty well.

Bogs doesn't have those skills. IMO, if he can just come in and just be a good 3pt shooter, I'll be happy. 3PT shooters are very valuable these days.

Yea most def. I just like the fact that he can get that contact but 3pt shooting is a plus

He had a decent game (19 pts, 0/2 2pt FG, 4/8 3pt FG, 7/8 FT) and def showed that his shooting skills would translate and be valuable at the NBA level. I really liked the 3-pointer in Durant's face with time running out, that was boss.

19 points on 10 shots is excellent efficiency. From what I hear, defense didn't look too good though.

He is nothing like Harden like you say. Bogs really is a bit of tweener if im honest, he has the size for SF but not the strength and the strength for SG but not the elite quickness. He's a smart guy who uses a high BBIQ to get his points and to the line. Bogdanovic plays a lot like Pierce in that he doesn't have elite athleticism but he has a great brain, fantastic quick release, smart passer with a legit post game.

He's really good at getting to the line because he uses his brain. He'll sink a 3, then the next time the ball is swung to him open he might fake out the guy closing him out on the 3 point line and drive to the basket. I think Bogdanovic is a great player. Bogs plays the post game quite a bit like Johnson does now I think about it on occasion using his size to get easy looks.

I believe Bogdanovic, if we're lucky and Bogs is focused, could be the SG to take over from Johnson for Brooklyn.

(PS I'm not saying Bogs is as good as either Pierce or Johnson, just similar traits they have)

His defense wasn't horrible but it wasn't great, if that makes sense. Put it this way, it's not the concern that people suggested it would be and he has loads of room to improve on the defensive end with his long arms and huge hands.

Bogdanovic did two things today:

One, he showed other NBA execs he can play in the NBA and with his contract situation expect more interest in Bogs prior to the trade deadline. Teams were in contact about Bogdanovic throughout Bogs one man show for Croatia in Eurobasket. Seeing how he played in that tournament against some NBA talent apparently peaked more interest.

Second, it showed Brooklyn he can play in the NBA. so that if we add him next summer he will at the very least be depth 3 point shooting but understanding that he can be much more.

Bogs went off again: 22 points, 2 assists on 8/10 shooting in 21 minutes in season opener vs Mersin BSB.
