There is talk going around that Wieters and Porcello might fall pretty far down the first round because of bonus demands. Who do you guys think will take them?

If he falls I hope the Brewers take Wieters.

I've heard Milwaukee isn't going to spend big money, at least on the Porcello front, not sure about Wieters. I think Wieters goes earlier than Porcello.

One mock I saw has Texas taking Matt Harvey, the HS righty from Connecticut. I have heard that the Rangers are open to some of the big bonus guys(Porcello?), we'll see.

I have a feeling this draft is gonna aggrevate me, like most drafts other than the 2005 draft does for Cardinal fans. For some reason the Cards love to pick college players, who always amount to nothing, the one time they pick young kids, in 2005 most of them turn out as studs.

In Kevin Goldstein's latest mock he has Porcello, the kid with perhaps the highest ceiling in this draft, falling to #27 to the Tigers. I swear if he makes it to 18 and the Cards are too cheap to draft him, my head will explode.

For a while now I have been a fan of Matt Harvey, and he could realistically fall to the Cards, but the Rangers really like him to, and they pick at 17, but I think the Rangers prefer Beaven to him. Now if Harvey is gone, my next choice at #18 would be Michael Main, who is an amazing athlete, with a great fastball. Now I really fully expect the Cards to draft all college relievers just to aggrevate me, what a day draft day is.

Very good chance he's there at 14. There are a number of very good HS pitching prospects at the top of the draft, as many as 10 could be drafted in just the first 30 picks. I think the Braves main guy to go after is Heyward, but if he's not there then either Smoker or Main, but I would think they would lean to Smoker seeing as how he's the hometown kid, but it's definitely close between the two for the Braves.

Oh I'd be psyched if Heyward fell to us, but I could see him going top ten.

I'd rather have Main than Smoker.

What are your thoughts on the three prospects?

1. Heyward
2. Main
3. Smoker

Thats how I would rank them.

I personally think Heyward is the best high school position player in this draft, better than Vitters and Moutaskas. But could be only the 4th high school postion player drafted behind the 2 aleady mentioned and Devin Mesoraco.

I like Main slightly more than Smoker, but it's close. I think I just like Main more because has been on the map a lot longer than Smoker. Like this time last year, Main was said to be the top '07 HS player, so I just think he's being underrated a little bit. Main is one of the best athletes in this draft and if he wasn't a pitcher could be drafted in the 2nd round as CF. I think Main has a decent amount of a higher ceiling than Smoker too. But a good amount of people prefer Smoker to Main so it's not like one is clearly better than the other.

By the way, if Porcello truly ends up falling to the Yankees like some people are predicting, this draft is crap. Although if he falls to the Cards and they take him, the draft is working perfectly.

hopefully the rangers wont pussy out and pass on porcello, callis has us taking him at #24, so that has me somewhat excited. from what i hear with all our selections in the 1st 80 picks we're supposed to and should be big players in this draft, and not afraid to spend dough especially the way john daniels has been directing all his scouts to focus on this draft for the past month.

According to BA, KC will take Moustakas and the Cubs will take Vitters, so it looks like the top 3 are set.

well that laporta pick was certainly interesting, had to have been a BPA but he's going to rake in the minors.
