Radman Retiring

Post#1 » by Kilroy » Mon Oct 7, 2013 6:25 pm

Vladimir Radmanovic is retiring, according to reports out of his native Serbia.

After 12 solid seasons in the NBA as a stretch 4 where he shot 37.8 percent from 3 and averaged 8.0 points, at 32 years old and unable to find a taker as a free agent, Radmanovic is done.

He played for seven teams after being drafted by the SuperSonics 12th overall in 2001, with stops with the Clippers, Lakers, Bobcats, Warriors, Hawks and the Bulls, where he played last season.

Let's hear it for quite possibly the most frustrating player in Lakers history! Long live Radman, and long live snowboarding injuries...

He made over 40mill in his career so unless he was irresponsible with his money he should be alright financially. Big shot out to the Vlad Rad

He was a beast in his Seattle days and had one okay season with us in 07-08. Still watching him & Sasha go nuts from 3 was one of my favorite moments in that run until we lost to Boston. I was properly amped up when we signed him only to see him break a leg snowboarding.

I think he still holds the record for the highest fine for a professional playr ($500k).

Radman was a great fit on our 2008 team. Spread the floor nicely but couldn't play a lick of D and he was exposed against Boston in the Finals.

He could hit the three at a good clip normally but it always seemed to me that he couldn't hit anything when we really needed him to. We've had a lot of players like that in the Kobe era, but because you knew Radman could hit those shots, I just found him more frustrating than the others...

For some reason, I'm still mad at him for missing a wide open 3 pointer at the end of the 1st half in game 1 against Boston in 2008. lol. It would have put us up 10 points and there wasn't anyone within 10 feet of him.

A silly thing to still be mad at, but still. lol

Not sure if anyone remembers this, but Radman was playing some amazing defense the first month or so of the 2009 season. I remember it being something that we talked about frequently in game threads.

He definitely stunk it up in the '08 Finals though.

Everyone was playing amazing defense in the first couple months of that 2009 season. Radmanovic eventually stunk it up that season though and Walton ended up taking the starting job.

Amazing how Mitch traded Radman for Ammo and Shannon. Shannon was the throw-in.

That's when we were playing that SOS style defense, blowing opponents out by fifteen plus. Great stuff.

Spacadet got destroyed by Paul Pierce in the finals. it was horrible to watch,
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

What was frustrating about Rad was that I think he had the ability to play solid defense, he just never really worked on it. He was one of the main reasons we lost to Boston in 08'.

It was eerie, I'm SO glad I'm not the only one that felt this way after 2 years.

@2001lakersHRH yes, I did like my “Space Cadet”-he played great D on Carmelo, not given a chance on Pierce-now he can get back on the slopes

Ill fated trip to Utah ruined his status with the Lakers, and eventually messed up his head.
