I respect the hard work on the design of the uniform and all but The Toronto Shield? That's terrible.

Hopefully the powers that be stop trying to make this Canada's team.

i dont like the team name 'toronto shield' or 'toronto canada shield'
design is nice in general, but it doesnt have that basketball team vibe. It's not cohesive and not a memorable logo.

Isn't it pointless to discuss a changed name since they said the name would not be changed?

If we are going to do that, I always thought this logo and colour scheme were good, not liking the name though.

That Shield design is incredible, just saw it for the first time. Why not tweak it to be Raptor themed..like rework the logo from an S to an R somehow, with the same flag idea, and maybe just a little something that could incorporate something Raptors related. Just love the originality and modern simplicity of the look.

Kudos on a GREAT design.

I'm not a huge fan of the name...especially since the Canadian Shield doesn't actually extend to Toronto...

But wow...that uniform is better than at least half of the ones currently used in the NBA.

i did it in about 24 hours, i just really hate the raptor name and I knowledge shield isn't that great either.

but tim liewikie said it not changing so, alas were stuck with raptors.

I might try my hand at a raptor one if I get some inspiration.

I have a very important update with this thread... first of all, we need to change the name of this thread because we all know we're remaining the Raptors.

Aside from that, I've heard from a "friend of a friend of mine" working with MLSE...

We're staying as the Raptors, and we're going back to the "purple fever."

That's right, we will incorporate purple into our team colours when we rebrand. I know a lot here will love it, but a lot of this forum won't.... but let's come up with great ideas incorporating our original purple, because that's the route we're taking.

Purple Fever is back... and I think Leiweke hinted at it in the most recent conference with season seat holders... look at his tie at a Raptor event:

I have a feeling that Drake will look to make an improved design of this (since he's already decided we're bringing back the purple):

And let the Durant-to-Toronto speculation officially begin... he's our #1 target when we get the chance:

“Believe it or not, I wanted to play for the Toronto Raptors; that was my favorite team growing up,” Durant recently said on The Dan Patrick radio show. “I was a big Vince Carter fan and I just liked their jerseys, to be honest. They were a new team when I was growing up, so I wanted to be a part of that.”

I really, really hope we don't do purple again.

I'm not sure how we haven't figured out yet that the combination of purple & a dinosaur is not associated with toughness or anything to be taken seriously.

Amen to that. Purple and Red are simply terrible colour combos and I'd rather not look like the Kings with just Purple/white/black. Plus, purple has nothing to do with the city/country, whereas Red, White, Black, Blue (the colours used by the Jays, Rock, Leafs, etc.) have relevance to both the city and country. Plus, sports psychology metrics already have the data backing up the decreases in aggression for male players wearing purple, etc. That's why it's seldom used in professional sports.

Purple is a gimick colour for this market. That was the point when the franchise was awarded. To be loud. But we're supposed to be moving-on from cartoon t-rex heads on a Raptor and so forth as TheGoodDoctor alludes too. But I actually know MLSE's looking over pitches with the Red, White, Black, Blue as we speak, so purple is definitely not set in stone despite what has been suggested above.

I feel like we'll re-visit the color scheme but with a more simple design.
Now that I think about, a purple version of the nets jerseys would look terrible

Also, I'm just going to assume you're right, because I'd love for the purple to comeback
