Josh Childress possibly to Wizards

One stat I recall: Childress was the top finisher in the league around the basket as a young player. Shot something over 60%FG in transition. If he finishes as he once did with ATL, he can be deadly with a pass-first player like Wall.

--Childress was clutch at Stanford. He was also Grunfeld's son's teammate in college.

--JC was successful with ATL before going to Greece. Has his career gone full circle? Can he regain what he once did well?

--I consider JC is a high-character guy.

--I liked him for the Wizards in the 2004 draft. Turns out the Wizards one pick before drafted Devin Harris, prior to the Wizards trading Harris to Dallas in a larger deal that brought Washington Antawn Jamison. (Funny, but lately the Wizards have brought in FAs I liked in their respective draft years: Childress. Price. Maynor -- loved them in college).

However, like Dat, I wonder just how many SFs can be on one roster at one time? Drafting Otto in the same year they extend Webster, and with Trevor Ariza being integral to wing defense, and with Chris Singleton and Jan Vesely both having been drafted as SF--just makes the Childress camp invite really suspect.

Ah. That explains it all. I *knew* there had to be a personal connection here. I couldn't think of any other reason for a GM to open lust after a solid/middling role player for as many years as EG has coveted Childress. The kid must've made one heck of an impression at Thanksgiving dinner that one time when his parents were out of town and "Mr. G" told his son that it'd be cool if Josh came by.

If were really so interested in keeping Childress, then that must mean Ariza is about to get moved for a big.

Childress was badly overrated with the Hawks. He did them a favor when he left for Greece. It isn't a coincidence that the Hawks had a breakout season the following year with Flip Murray taking over the 6th man role.

Who would be more valuable to the Wizards this season. Chris Singleton or Josh Childress?

In all honesty I think Singleton is more valuable and I consider him to be one of, if not, the worst players in the league.

Josh Childress is dreck. I fear EG will end up trading Ariza and Booker for some big stiff like Dalembert becuase he thinks Childress can backfill for Ariza.

Childress didn't play much last season, but he was slightly less awful in his few minutes than Singleton was last season. Both players were dreck. Neither has any value.

As traumatic as it would be to waive Singleton, I think most of us could make it through that.

Again, if we choose brown or black gloves for the winter, it isn't going to affect how good our car is. Neither Singleton or Childress should affect much this year.

No he really wasn't. He couldn't shoot from outside 5 feet which is a pretty big problem for a wing player.

He was an expert at stat padding. He was routinely leaking out early on the break to cherry pick. He also crashed the offensive boards every time. Sometimes he would get easy putbacks. Most of the time he didn't and ended up trailing the play in transition, leaving the rest of the team to play transition D.

In his last season with the Hawks over 50% of his shot attempts were in the first 10 seconds of the clock. He was the biggest cherry picker i have ever seen. And he averaged less than 1 made jumper per game which is a joke for a wing player playing 30 minutes per game.
