So Daniel Orton has been released.

Also the Orlando Sentinel is having a mock bracket for best Magic player in history. Round one is now. Oladipo, who shouldn't even be in the bracket since he hasn't played a game yet, is somehow beating Penny Hardaway. The joys of internet polls.

I was one of the 20%. I'm not voting for Dwight or Shaq in this poll no matter what. I also am pissed that Nick Anderson and Darrell Armstrong are in the same bracket, they'd be in my Final 4 easily if they were in different brackets.

I like Big Baby Orton better than Big Baby O'Quinn thus far. I can still remember those games Orton finally got minutes when Dwight was out. He played great considering the situation. I haven't seen O'Quinn play with that type of ability yet for 5-10 mpg.

KOQ has really, really good PER36 numbers, look em up if you haven't seen them. He projects to be a legit PF/C at 30MPG.

Problem is that he also fouls out by the 36 min mark. To this point he averages a foul every six minutes. Which means he really cant ever be counted on to play more then 30mpg at 5 fouls per gm.

KOQ's lack of athleticism will always limit him to a bench role IMO. Being smaller, slower, and less explosive than most of the players he matches up against leaves him frequently incapable of defending without fouling.

Which is why he was a second round pick. If you can get a serviceable bench player - which KOQ may turn out to be - in the second round, you've done pretty well.

Well... KOQ is what he is. A BIG riding in the bench for those fouls. ( and trust me, he does spend them freely lol)

I don't think many are expecting him to be a starter. I'd be thrilled if he ended up being a long-term solution as a reserve, considering that it's rare for a late 2nd round pick to stick around. He's an energy guy and good teammate who also has a mean streak in him. And he just came off his rookie year... there's still time for him to learn how to avoid fouls.

I know it's preseason, but I don't get how he played the most minutes for us last night.

Agree. Orton was really bad. Oquinn fouls a ton but he is a way better shooter and passer than Orton. Orton probably more athletic tho.

I cannot stand Doris Burke, Magic Johnson, or Wilbon. 2 out of 3 fired is good for me.
