Agree that Biz looks filled out, with added definition and size in the arms & shoulders. I doubt he's grown much taller. I think the key here is to keep Biz' upside in perspective. This guy is learning, and has great teachers in Al and Patrick. Still, translating that into results is not automatic. Basketball is not natural to Biz. Hopefully he becomes good enough to be our solid reserve 5.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

For Biyombo to become a good or excellent player, he has to make a mental transformation. I'm a fan of Biyombo, because he reminds me of a young Bill Russell. Similar size, athletic ability, desire. But Russell was also one of the smartest players to ever play in the league. Does Biyombo have Russell's mental make-up? Time will tell. Lack of understanding the game holds back many promising players. It's most likely holding back Bismack as well. The progress he makes learning the game will determine his future.

I understand what you were trying to do so this is of no offense to you, but please don't mention Bismack Biyombo in the same sentence as the great Bill Russell. Biyombo would be lucky if he could ever reach Ben Wallace potential

Honesty right now I'll be happy with a serge Ibaka or even Larry Sanders type ceiling. We're jumping the gun to compare him Wallace at this point.

You just never know. As a Bucks fan, there were a number of Bucks fans who wanted to get rid of Larry Sanders after his first two seasons. They're pretty quiet now. I think it would be highly unlikely Biyombo ever approaches the status of Wallace or Russell. But he's still very young with a lot of desire and potential. I look fondly on athletes who try very hard to achieve like Biyombo. I wouldn't bet against him becoming at least a competent player.

No offense, bro, it's nice to get a fair comment on Biz from someone from another fan base. But unless you're 80, how can you type the phrase "reminds me of a young Bill Russell"? It's not like there's an abundance of footage and every fan of NBA history has seen enough of his career to determine how a young Russell looked like. Moreover, as knowitall said, you just can't compare him to Russell. That's something Heinsohn would say about some random Celtic big.

I don't always agree with Johnlac1 but when it comes to talking about the greats I'll always concede with him, just because he's actually watched these guys play.

I'm praying Biyombo develops into the player we think he can be. He has 3 years of playing behind Jefferson to do that, which is plenty of time. Him and Zeller could be an intriguing pairing in 2-3 years.

I think Biyombo becomes a Tyson Chandler, Larry Sanders or Marcus Camby type of player.

I'm happy with that for a pick 7.

Hell I'd be happy with a Dalembert type ceiling at this point.

If he becomes anything close to Chandler, Sanders, or Camby ill be thrilled. At this point im with fats. Adonal Foyle is probably the best comparison I've seen for him.

May need to give MKG the 5 year plan as well.

Are we going to trade for Rudy Gay so MKG can sit and learn behind him a la Al Jefferson and Biz? /green

If Rudy Gay had any of the teaching ability Jefferson has shown with young bigs such as Kanter and Favors than sure.

Too bad he hasn't.

Edit: Right now Biyombo isn't as good as Zeller, McRoberts, or Jefferson. So of course hes going to ride the bench. He just needs to absorb Jeffersons knowledge while hes here.

BB made the WT.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... th-Bobcats

MILWAUKEE – With the Charlotte Bobcats deciding whether to exercise the option for the 2014-15 season on his rookie scale contract, Bismack Biyombo isn’t worrying about the organization’s choice. The Bobcats must decide by Oct. 31.

“I’m happy with the team here,” Biyombo told RealGM. “If I have to stay, I will, but you just don’t know. I’m thankful for the season. I don’t even think about it – I just do my job and let it take care of itself. I got to play hard and play just like any other season.”

Biyombo stepped into the Bobcats’ starting center spot in place of Al Jefferson on Saturday night against the Milwaukee Bucks, grabbing 21 rebounds, scoring nine points and blocking two shots in 37 minutes. Steve Clifford is adamant that the third-year center has a viable role on the roster, with his size, rebounding and defense.

Jefferson will remain in a walking boot over the next several days, and he will then be re-evaluated and begin rehabilitation from a sprained right ankle.

“I’m ready for the starting role if it’s the season or preseason,” Biyombo said. “It’s more of a challenge to me, a challenge to the team as well. We have to step up. Al is a very good player for us, scoring in the post, so we have to step up.”

Hope to god he'll be chandler/sanders and start for us when Jeffersons time is up, however, if he doesn't make it although I think he will, he could easily be an energy guy off of the bench with a defined defensive game and it's obvious his rebounding has gone a long way with recently getting 21, I'm sure if he was given a starting role now (not likely) he could pull down atleast 10RPG which is well up there! On top of all he did say he would lead the NBA in rebounding during his career, those who are competitive will know, never get in the way of a man on a mission.
