He reminds me of Carmelo with that midrange face-up game and ability to make 3s, as well as use his strength to bully people in the post.

He actually did in those highlights.
People are going to be surprised by his offensive versatility....and horrified by his defense, lol.

I thought most of the time yesterday that his defense against big guys was quite solid. One thing I like about Brown (which it seems that others don't appreciate) is that if he sees you do something he doesn't like on D, he almost immediately calls a time out and speaks to his players individually about how they can be better. That's actually very good coaching.

Why comment when you don't know what you are talking about? Sure Irving and Waiters can both be ball dominant, but they are also very good off ball. I haven't seen anything implying that Bennett is ball dominant.

If anything the Cavs were actually quite desperate for a big who was a scoring threat.

Bennett looked really good there. He has such a smooth and natural offensive game. Waiters also looked really good. Cleveland's young talent looks pretty nice. I wouldn't mind starting Zeller at the 5 because that would allow Cleveland to bring Bennett, Varejao, and Jack off the bench. That is a very good 8 man rotation and even 9 depending on the mystery that is Andre Bynum.

Regardless, I think Cleveland fans have to be happy with the youngsters. Irving/Thompson/Waiters/Bennett/Zeller is a really nice core.

From the highlight video, it sure looked like most of Bennett's offense came off jump shots. However, in college he did have the top points-per-possession among this draft class, so maybe it's not that worrisome.

AB will get his points in the paint. He has a GREAT touch and good hands. He seems to catch the ball well in traffic and that is important. He also has good leaping ability, but that may not really stand out until next year when he trains hard and loses weight.

He is a possible 20-10 guy. He is similar to Kevin Love, but Love was a little taller while AB has a better handle. If I am Minnesota/Portland/Atlanta and Cleveland is dangling AB and future first round picks for their soon to be FA PF (LMA, Love, and Horford) I would think long and hard about it.

He should get into better shape this year just from playing, but if you are looking for him to become a hard body and able to play any more than spot minutes at the 3 this year, I think that went out with the shoulder injury. Next season I expect him to come in sculpted like Dion did this year.

20/10? i don't know about 10 rebounds a game but yeah he can def score in bunches. What i want to see is how he looks defensively going forward

He's actually a darn good rebounder.

It is one game, preseason at that, but it was also the kid's first professional game.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Part of me wants him to lose a ton of weight and become a 3, but the other part of me wants him to bulk up even more and become a bruiser. I've never been so excited to watch a preseason game. Tuesday against the Cats. Go Cavs!!

The Cavaliers are legitimately 10 deep. He can be whatever he needs to be with who ever he's playing with.

People are worried about he and Thompson being too small to play together, but I'm not sure if that's with 6'10 Earl Clark at SF, or 7'1 Bynum at C, lol.

If he plays some SF (and that isn't the Cavaliers' plan) then who ever out quicks this guy on the offensive end is going to get steam rolled by him on the defensive end - aside from those handful of guys no one can match up with.

Love seeing Bennett step up like that. Cavs big rotation is a mess though. Its almost convenient that someone will be injured at all times

Waiters and Bennett are not ball dominant players.

A lot of AB shots yesterday were off catch and shoot type scenarios. He didn't hold the ball for the majority of the clock and then take a shot solo.

If its going to be a problem with Cleveland, then it should be a problem in Miami, Brooklyn etc.

I have no idea how you can argue that the Cavs big rotation being a mess. It's just incredibly deep, that's a good problem to have.

Well, Zeller is out indefinitely with having an appendectomy. At least it's not a knee or ankle..

It's a nice mess but when you have to juggle so many pieces it's hard to develop your three young big men behind two high calibre vets. Someone's going to get screwed

That being said with the Zeller injury and the Bynum thing it shouldn't be an issue for a while

I really hope that Zeller doesn't get caught up in the numbers game. He's got some talent especially if he's worked on his strength in the offseason.

I think Bennet's weight problem is being overstated a bit. He's not Glen Davis fat. He definitely needs to trim down, but you can tell he is naturally very thick across his chest and shoulders and that there is a fair bit of muscle mass on him.
