SPANISH COACH ON LUCAS AND THE HAWKS

Post#1 » by Years80HAWKS » Fri Oct 11, 2013 8:18 am

I am just pasting this piece of an interview that the Spanish coach Txus Vidorreta (from the Basque Country. pronounce /Choose Vidorreta/) offered to the website solobasket.com.

He speaks about the change in the body conditions of Lucas and how that could affect his game, his preseason and damage his tendons and cartilagues.

If the translator does not offer an understandable translation, I come back later with the short story.

Google Translate:

Lucas Nogueira , summer atypical renewal draft, workouts etc ... what are your feelings about this year?

Lucas spent the whole summer with workouts with NBA franchises . Once you choose Atlanta : Atlanta workouts , Summer League with Atlanta , workouts after the Summer League ... Well, it did not work I had to do , did other work. Preseason has come and he is getting very hard to his knees , because his quads have not been in the same condition that came before and , especially , for these things that are inexplicable to me that in Atlanta in ten days took six kilos and 100 kilos a player suddenly goes to 106 and with legs like having Lucas and some tendons as long as has Lucas , then suffers. We will place you in the parameters that have to be Lucas , 102 kilos , two more than the season ended , not 106 kilos , that should interest anyone who may ever signed him because , to my knowledge, Lucas have two-year contract with Atlanta students and all that reserves their rights , with which you can trade . Therefore, Luke 's Student player for all purposes and we will be placed in the same line as was last year, so you can run , so you can jump , so you can play above the rim , and that is physically well . "

... That is the way he has managed to acquire his rights , that sometimes we forget

" Of course , of course , because the kid is already generated as a kind of obsession is that I'm weak, I can not play contact .... If you already protect me with your collective tactical deficiencies individually . It is a process , that is , I 'm not a professional athlete, my knees if I have 5 kilos suffer more or 5 kilos less, a boy of 20 years who suddenly ends the season with 100 kilos and becomes 10 days 106 kilos suffers, and the situation is paying Lucas himself is getting some unfair criticism . Luckily we can abstraerle of them .

And then the club, you have to do now reuptake work this summer. But hey , not guilty Lucas , because that was agreed. What was not agreed upon is that have a job so long, had to have been in the Worksouts and the Summer League but not in the workouts, in training , in the Summer League in post workouts ... and then , and with all respect , if they sign him , do not understand how they can take decisions that may affect the future of the player . Because if the player, for whatever reason , this year makes a mess of the season , I 'm sure you will not end up in the NBA next season , and it's something I've talked to him.

It is the perversion of the system . On all sides did you take " Eurobasket " and appeared as a player in Atlanta. He was on the roster of Students a player who has two -year contract with Estudiantes . Hey, if you want it to be yours , pay clause as have many other players who have gone to the NBA. But if you have not paid the clause, hear , observe that contracts with students and take decisions that may affect the future of the player . "

NEW CONTENT!!!!

Thanks for the translation, Mike.

So, basically, there is concern about adding too much weight/muscle to Bebe's frame going forward?
That is a valid concern for a player of his size. Seven footer's all too often suffer from knee/ankle/back issues their entire career. Here's hoping Lucas makes it over to our training staff next Fall in one piece. I'll be satisfied if he just learns the basics of positioning/blocking out during his time overseas.

We can put Lucas on the same weight program as Dennis and Jenkins when he comes over next Summer.

I can see what the coach is saying. Basically, I'm reading it as "You NBA f***s sign my guy, then tell him to put on muscle despite him still being an undeveloped kid, and it's creating a health risk for him, and on top of that you dump him back to me?"

Which kind of makes sense.

It also sounds as if Nogueira's complaining to the coach that he thinks he needs to be bigger, "Of course , of course , because the kid is already generated as a kind of obsession is that I'm weak, I can not play contact ...."
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Pretty much. That and it's like Bebe is looking past his current team. Rather than setting himself up to best help them he's looking at how to best help his NBA career. Huge nono for Euro teams, they are very team oriented and don't at all enjoy being looked at as a farm system for the NBA.
