mike mccoy vs. mark trestman
both coaches revamp thier QBs, rivers is no. 2 in QBR and cutler is no. 3. emery interviewed both guys and decided on trestman. im just wondering if mccoy was the headcoach, do you think he would do a better job than trestman? rivers is on pace for career highs and so is cutler, but mccoy is more pass happy and rivers is lighting it up even though they dont have the weapons chicago has. im just wondering if mccoy was the headcoach, do you think cutlers number would look better and the offense would be more "exciting?" trestman has done a phenomenal job but you cant over look at what mccoy is doing in san diego and he doesnt have the weapons chicago has.

It's hard to read too much into this. Each of the qbs had to conquer different demons. I cannot speak for Rivers' changes of habits, but with Cutler he is getting rid of the ball much quicker and making much better decisions. We know this is Trestman's influence but we could only speculate how another coach/coordinator would have done.
Second, the Bears offense as a whole has scored more points and runs the ball better. I looked at the average points per game for each team, the average yards per game for each team, and then to factor out the defenses I looked at their total number of offensive plays.
Bears- 0.46 points per play, 5.95 yards per play
Chargers- 0.37 points per play, 6.06 yards per play.
So we're a tenth of a yard different on a per play basis (three tenths in a set of downs) which is really nothing, but we're a tad more efficient at scoring. What does this mean? It may mean they've played better defenses, in worse weather or that we're slightly better. I don't know.
Then factor in the changes on the depth charts. The Bears have 6 new starters on offense which is a lot of turnover. I can't speak for the Chargers.
The point is... it is almost impossible to compare the two and speculate on how the Bears would look under McCoy or the Chargers under Trestman.
