CUTS: Pacers release Jackson and Howard

Post#1 » by Grang33r » Fri Oct 18, 2013 4:30 am

Per team website:

The Indiana Pacers announced Thursday they have released guard Ron Howard and forward Darnell Jackson.

Howard appeared in one game this preseason, playing 2:36 in Indiana's 107-98 loss to Houston in Taipei on Sunday. He finished with one rebound, two assists, and one foul. Jackson did not appear in any of the team's four preseason games.

The Pacers’ preseason roster is now at 15 players.

A little surprised Howard didn't get a better shot at the roster.

So, Butler and Armstrong are the last tryouts on the roster right now? Not sure either of them makes it, but Bird loves savvy vets like Butler, so who knows.

Who's the Sam Young of this roster? I really wish we had re-signed him.

Sam Young in terms of vet who makes the roster out of training camp, or Sam Young in terms of wing off the bench? If the second, it's Granger and Solo Hill that have replaced Young.

haha

Sam Young as in a shutdown defender off the bench in case any of our regular legit defenders run into foul trouble.

Still, Granger or Solo Hill, in all likelihood.

Not really surprised. Armstrong fills the need of a 5th big man and Butler is an insurance SF.

Raptor fan here. Will Butler make your team? What do you guys think of him?

He had a short-stint with the Raptors and we hated him. Seemed like a good locker-room guy and got along with his team-mates, but the guy was a chucker with low basketball IQ

He had several instances like this which frustrated the fans:

It's looking like he may make it, but I think it ultimately depends on Grangers health. Also, he's just such a low priority in not concerned either way. I think he'll be the 5th wing if Granger is out, 6th if he's healthy.
