Would you do this trade as GM?

yes- Cousins needs an All Star now and Rondo is the perfect option. Green is a great piece to add too.

no- the Kings should try and land a future star in the 2014 draft with their lotto pick or go for free agency whilst keeping Mclemore.

Yes- Celtics won't get any better return than this for Rondo

Management likes McLemore too much to trade him already. Remember he was their first pick, ever.

Unless he's scoring about 20ppg there's no way he's winning ROY over Olapido who will have some sky high usage for a rookie. McLemore is going to have to fight over minutes with Thornton Thomas Fredette and Vasquez

It would be a sign and trade.
Jesus lol.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

So your entire idea rests on Rondo, a guy who's never exactly been the nicest guy in the room, signing an extension with a bad team before playing a single game for them?

OK, I'll play this game.

I'd argue first that the Kings, who were a mere 1 game from being 8th worst last year, have little chance of playing as badly this year as last year (seeing as how they have a far superior coach, no questions of relocation, and better fan support). Which means that their pick will likely either be in the 8-10 range or top 3.

So first: any team that would give a top 3 pick, in this years draft, for Rondo should be contracted. Period.

So would the Celtics take an 8-10 pick and McLemore for Rondo? Well, I'd imagine it depends on what McLemore looks like. If he looks like a bench player, they'd probably say no. Problem is, if he looks like the 2nd coming of Ray Allen, the Kings would be the ones to balk.

So, long story short: no, this isn't a realistic scenario.

I mean, Rondo would probably sign for the Kings if it's a max deal and it's looking like he is on the downswing.
Doesn't make sense for him otherwise.
