Yep. Hopefully Wade brings him along this year and turns Beasley's career around. Our bench is getting older, we need to find a few pieces for future. Battier & Ray only have a year or 2, Beasley could be one of those pieces that helps us down the road, not just this year.

Man Wade is lean as hell. I saw some writers saying that he looked really good, that makes me even more excited for the season to start.

Charlie Westbrook will take the last spot on roster for training camp.

Dont know too much about him (yet) but he's apparently a beast athlete PG/SG. just 24YO, looks intersting...i'll do some research on him.

So after looking at his Measurements, stats and gameplay, one name that comes to mind is Monta Ellis (hopefully with a brain).

He's just abit smallish for a SG but can probably play the point too with our roster, he's a scorer and very athletic.
He can create for himself and his % are pretty good both in college and europe.

I wouldn't mind giving him a chance over Roger Mason, an athletic creator with upside (quality defender?) is a good thing to have. We'll see how he does in camp.

Edit - thinking about it, it's funny but he can also be described as a poor-man's Westbrook. Russell Westbrook, that is. Who knows maybe they're some kind of relatives.

Hah, yeah when I read his name earlier and that he was a 6-4 guard, I thought to myself there was no way he was athletic, too. Lo and behold

I like his jumper form, both spotting up and off the dribble, and obviously his athleticism is nice. He's another guy who could guard the 1 for us, while playing a wing role on offense. Hopefully he agrees to play in Sioux Falls for a little while. I'm intrigued.

Look, The Italian league isn't the strongest european league but it's a decent league and the kid scored 16.2 points in 30 minutes in his first year out of college, and he pulls off some very impressive plays.

He seems to have good body control in the air and be a good finisher around the rim at the same time. Granted the dudes he played against didn't have NBA strength, it's still a good sign because if he makes the team, you can bet he'll get much stronger, especially in the upper body, as well.
It's just an 8 minute tape, but he could really be one of those guys who could be a surprise pickup for us this year. Since the last two or three spots on the roster aren't important anyways, I'd rather take a risk on him than sign Mason right away since you can always pick up a veteran throughout the season if things with Westbrook don't work out.

I am not sure what some of you are watching.

Based on those "highlights", I see a kid with little mechanics and no quickness. I do see some athletic ability but without the quickness he is going to have a hard time driving to the basket and scoring like he does against the Italian League competition. He seems to be better at driving - although he does the same dribbling move every time he drives - and OK at shooting when setting his feet but the mechanics are flawed. He looks like he is shooting a fade away even from 3pt land. I suspect that this is because he has trouble getting a good lift because of his poor mechanics.

He is definitely a D-League talent. Needs at least a couple of seasons of development in order to have a chance to make our roster IMO.

A: Would you love it in place of Chris Bosh? What you're "hearing" was an ESPN video where David Thorpe mentioned Asik for Chris Bosh as a trade that could potentially benefit each team, because of playing styles, how Asik would provide the Heat with skilled bulk in the middle, how Bosh could complement Dwight Howard. But even that piece included the disclaimer that it is highly unlikely the Heat do anything until they see how this latest championship bid turns out. All I can say is that I still think Pat Riley would move back toward a true center if a true superstar center became available to the Heat. But that would be something far closer to Howard than Asik. For now, Bosh fits.

I wouldn't trade Bosh for Asik. If I had to trade him, I'd trade him for Al Horford. Maybe LaMarcus Aldridge.

No way i'd want Aldridge - he's not a better player, just plays a slighlty diffrent style that would'nt suit us as well.

Horford is a nice player, also on the same level as Bosh - the only advantage he has is his really smallish contract - just 12 Mil per year. He's not better then Bosh as a player, and he's not a true dominant Center either.

I always knew Pat still dreams about a true Center but the problem is those are so rare nowdays it's very hard to add one. Asik isn't really talented enough to replace Bosh, the guy can't score outside of 2 feet, can't shoot free throws, doesn't have very good hands.

We shouldn't trade Bosh for a true Center if it means we downgrade the talent level. And that's what we'll do if we swap him for Asik.

The only 2 ways i see for us to get a real Center are :

1) Pick up a decent veteran on a discount - (The Birdman secnario) : an older but still decent Center that already got his payday and is willing to join a contender in need on a discount salary.

Candidate : Emeka Okafor. And that's pretty much it. At least for 2014-2015.

2) Hit the home run in the Draft. If we buy/trade/get our draft pick to be a bit higher and draft at the 15-20 range, we might be able (with some luck and hard work) to steal a young Center that could turn out to be good ( probably not great).

Someone like Willie Cauley-Stein is expected to get drafted at aound 15, he's very young are raw offensively but he's very big and mobile too, an active big man. If you take a gamble on a guy like that and he pans out you've got yourself a very cheap role player that would look better next to the big 3 and that we could devlope into a starting Center in a year or 2.

I'll defer on LMA, as I haven't actually watched him closely enough to argue either way. I do think his mentality/approach might suit him better offensively here than Bosh.

I think you're underselling Horford. His rebounding compared to Bosh's would be a huge boost here. Offensively, he is pretty dominant. He shoots in the mid-50%s without LeBron/Wade next to him, and whilst still hoisting a bunch of Js for a C. He'd be a great fit here; yes, potentially better than Bosh, when rebounding is considered. I still think Bosh is the better player. Their PERs hovered around each other the past 3 years, but during Bosh's Toronto time, his was fairly substantially higher than Horford's peak. Ultimately I'd rather stick with Bosh because he knows the team/system and is great defensively guarding pick-and-rolls.

There's no so-called "true center" we could trade for that wouldn't be a significant talent downgrade. What even is the list of "true" centers we'd want? Dwight...Noah? Lopez? Hibbert? I'm not sure how keen I'd be over the latter 3 over Bosh. There just aren't that many great, traditional Cs nowadays. Marc Gasol doesn't make this group because he rebounds at the same rate as Bosh.

I consider Horford a C, and probably the only one I'd consider trading Bosh for. Beyond that it''s big 4s of the LMA ilk. (Larry Sanders would intrigue me, though. Need to see another season from him.)

Not sure who we'd be able to trade to get into the mid-1st round. Doubt Micky would buy a pick there, either, if one were even available (rare those picks get sold).

A: First, I'll pardon your French. Second: "Greatness"? Look, I've been saying what I think will happen, not what I think should happen. What might be best at this stage, due to no fault of his own, is to move on from Rashard Lewis at this point, in order to clear a roster spot for Griffin, when they then could send Griffin to Sioux Falls as their own property, unable to be poached by another team. With James Jones playing so well this preseason, the odds of Rashard catching minutes appear to be minimal. But the Heat do preach loyalty, and Rashard arrived at a discount last season. I do agree that Griffin otherwise could be poached if he winds up in Sioux Falls as an unaffiliated prospect. We're about to see which factors into the equation at a greater level: loyalty (Lewis) or promise (Griffin).

The guy asking the question is obviously way over the top, but i do believe in Griffin's upside. The stats, age, and the fact that he's been called the most athletic guy in training camp make me think he's got a future with this team. Guy plays hard every minute he gets. Dont want to see another Beverley stroy of Heat regret.

It is a tough situation. I was actually starting to look at the roster and wonder if I wouldn't prefer Griffin over Lewis. I love Shard, and was ecstatic when we signed him, but with Mason and Beasley now in tow, and JJ being uncuttable for loyalty reasons, he'd have to be the odd man out.

Griffin would be tons of fun on the 15-man roster. Even playing alongside DJ Stephens his athleticism still stood out in SL. I remember watching him play against dunk champ Jeremy Evans and him clearly looking like the better player. This is the first time I feel like we have too many good/useable players to fit in the active roster. I guess it was a good thing Ennis signed in Australia.
