Well on the plus side, at least we didn't give Maynor more than the vet's minimum.

And on the double plus side, at least we only signed him for one year.

Look, I'm all for treating the preseason as an experiment, but Randy needs to get a clue.

From the minutes, looks like Randy really thinks this is his starting line up.

Where is Al Harrington ?

I think everyone needs to say a pray of whatever they do for Okafor tonight.

I care less about the jumper and more about his ability to run a basketball team. Everybody can diss the sh-t out of Maynor but he can at least run a team. He just doesn't have Wall's physical ability. Wall's decision-making hasn't improved and that disappoints the hell out of me. Not sure he'll ever be elite.

True. It wasn't a bad move. There were no other back up PGs out there.

Randy can't be that retarted right?? I mean, Temple will be our backup PG right? Al will get more minutes than Ves and Kevin right?? We will be starting the team that went on a tear after Wall came back with WEBSTER in the starting lineup right right..... Oh god someone lie to me!!

Webster hasn't exactly looked like himself either this preseason. Didn't he have offseason surgery or something?

At Seraphin averaged 9 points per game last year and has a nice touch. What does Vesely have? Length? Maynor was good at OKC. Hasn't been the same since knee injury.

Seraphin required a lot of FGAs/min last season. He was a ball hog who didn't rebound or play smart ball. Vesely was so scared to get fouled or make mistakes, he passed the ball and IMO hurt the team less. Not saying he wasn't well below average himself, but Vesely bothered me less than Kevin.

Seraphin has a strong body with good agility, good scoring ability in the paint, and best of all he;s hard to back down inside. However, I don't think I've seen a player with such good physical attributes do so little good on the court.

Honestly, I'd rather see Seraphin traded than Vesely. I know that is probably too harsh.

Temple or Maynor is not going to decide the playoffs. Randy knows what Al can do. He's old with bad knees. No need to play him a lot in preseason. I'll be shocked if he's not replacing Booker when he leaves the game once the real season starts.

Seriously, how many big men does Detroit have who are better than our bigs? They have 3 guys better than Nene (Drummond, Monroe, Smith) and 2 more who are about as good as Booker (Jerebko and Mitchell). The 6th, and 7th best big men on their team Harrellson and Villaneuva, are better than any other big man on our roster.

miller31time was being facetious. We signed Maynor for the BAE and for 2 years.

He might be suffering from just-got-paid-itis.

I think Harrington, Webster, and Nene will see the bulk of the minutes. Ariza might start but with Webster backing him and Beal, I think Martell will play more minutes.

I suspect Harrington and Booker are going to each play a lot more than Vesely and Seraphin, unless Kevin gets his scoring touch back.

This team is going to need a lot of offense, because the defense is not going to be as good without Okafor.

I know it's preseason, but if Maynor doesn't improve, he might surpass Lorenzo Williams as my least-favorite WAS FA signing.

Speaking of Zo Williams:

Acc. to BR:
Similar Players (By Age)
24. Michael Ruffin
25. Michael Stewart
26. Kim Hughes
27. George T. Johnson
28. Calvin Booth
30. Charles Jones

I see a lot of familiar names on that list. :-?

Seraphin is complete garbage. Almost every time he touches the ball its a turnover or a missed shot and the guy is a terrible rebounder for his size/position. Vesely is a better help defender, a slightly better rebounder and he knows he has no offensive game so he generally stays out of the way. Maynor so far this preseason has been the worst of the bunch. The guy is not a point guard, hes an under sized shooting guard who has some ball handling ability, no shot creating skills and is just an ok outside shooter. Temple has done a better job backing Wall up. I guess my greater point is, as others have made, this team is full of non-NBA talent and thats a problem for a supposed "up and coming" team.
