Great news for Orlando City, congratulations to them! I think we can safely assume that they will be joining the league in 2015 along with New York City FC. If thats the case, welcome back to the western conference, Houston.

The County Commission just approved the stadium funding.

So when are we getting a proper MLS forum to go along with the NBA, NHL, NFL and MLB?

OZ,

Maybe not all MLS Teams but I have something up my sleeve.

It's possible we could spin off the forum. With the navigation plan that I have, more forums could definitely be in the cards and to start, The Soccer Forum will get more traffic.

I do not want to say too much at this point now as things have not be approved yet.

Wow, I was only kidding, but that's great news.

I will guarantee it will be more popular than the NHL forums. Might even get me out of retirement to help out. An expanded MLS forum is something I fully support.

Fantastic news. I can bring some people from other forums to help it grow.

Love the fact that Orlando is getting a team. The stadium will also be great for other events and friendly games between major clubs and national teams. Maybe even Colombia!!!

I found this site because I was interested in hearing opinions about basketball and what other people thought of my home team ORL Magic, I am happily a member because of the passionate knowledgable (mostly) threads and conversations that are started daily. I could only imagine adding a tiny sub forum for MLS specifically you could draw an entire new group of fans/supporters in and that can only boost the traffic.

win-win in my book do your thing Howard Mass I believe in you!

I like the idea, but it's waaaaaaaaaaaaay too early for that. I'm sure you both remember how popular and active the individual NFL and MLB boards were before they became their own standalone forums and then turned into a wasteland...

If you look at the soccer forum numbers, we are already doing better then the NHL forums.

I know MLS is just a drop in the bucket for all those posts, but everything here would be moved over.

I imagine like the NBA boards we would have an international section and so on.

This is what I had in mind in 2009.

viewtopic.php?f=40&t=950226

Then inside the Premier League forum you could have a general EPL thread, plus a thread for every team in English soccer.

International soccer could have the remaining leagues and team threads, as well as all FIFA tournaments.

To make it smaller I would even get rid of Player Comparisons, Trades and Transactions, Minor Leagues and NCAA Soccer

Just stick with

General MLS Forum
International Football
Premier League Football

Plus all MLS Team forums.

Very excited that Orlando is joining the MLS. Its been a lot of work locally to get to this point. Tons of people here are soo excited. Its gonna be awesome! There is a extremely passionate fan base here. We had 21,000 people for the USL league championship game, not even the highest minor league. I went to the game and the passion, excitement, and emotion was unbelievable. MLS in Orlando is a perfect marriage.

So with NYC FC and Orlando coming in, that puts the league at 21. Is Beckham's Miami option still viable, or are they going to have Orlando as the only team in Florida? I've also seen reports of MLS looking at Atlanta as a possible expansion city too.

Beckham can put a team anywhere he wants at any time basically. I think they will reserve Miami for him, but we'll see.

I have heard rumours about Miami, Detroit, Atlanta, St. Louis and Minneapolis but it's all just hope from each city more then any concrete plans.

I am not sure we will have an entire Soccer Forum.

Were discussing a lot of things forums wise and hopefully I'll have more to share in the coming weeks.

Whatever you end up doing, in the name of all things sacred, please leave the Junior and International Hockey board intact.
