He is EXACTLY what we need right now. I wish it would pan out, but we just dont have the pieces. They would want more than our 14 1st, and there is no way i'd throw Porter in to the deal. I doubt they would be interested in Porter alone, either.

So far all I've been able to come up with that I think is fair value is a trade centered on Porter, and possibly our 2014 1st rounder as well. While I'd be open to that trade as a Wizards fan, I don't think the Nuggets bite, but only because they already have Gallo and Chandler at SF, so Porter is pretty redundant for them. Maybe if we got a 3rd team involved, but then they could probably just cut us out of the deal and get Faried themselves.

You only say that because we can't trust EG to pick the right player with a draft pick. Other then that, no way I give up next years draft pick in a trade for Faried. There have been a number of good draft classes recently. Thats how you got a Faried later in the draft. There will be more opportunities to get good players for cheap. We just need a new GM who is better at finding the right players in the draft.

That's partly true. I am not very confident that Ernie would be able to draft a good player in the mid 1st round, or even an average role player for that matter. BUT, that's not entirely a slight to Ernie, since I wouldn't feel very confident about landing a good player with a mid 1st round pick no matter who our GM was. Even the legendary GMs strike out on draft picks here and there. It's unavoidable.

Yes, there are sleepers almost every year that get taken in the mid 1st round or late 1st round that become very good players. However, there's just as many (if not more) players taken in the mid 1st round that are out of the league 3-4 years later because they were terrible. So yes, there's a chance you can land a very good player, but there's an even better chance that you end up with a complete scrub, or perhaps just an average role player (not the end of the world).

The thing is, we already know that Faried is a very good player. It remains to be seen HOW good he can be, but at the very worst, he's a proven good starter. This comes down to a philosophical preference, but I would much rather have the player who I already KNOW is good than gambling on an unknown quantity whose best case scenario is probably only a little better than Faried, and most likely will NOT be anywhere near as good as him.
