Preseason Gm 8. vs. Minnesota. 7:30PM ET

Post#1 » by dan2314 » Thu Oct 24, 2013 12:25 pm

Finally the last preseason game!
Martin and Love have been on a tear for them in the last few games. Hopefully monroe or smith get told to just shut love down and dont worry about anyone else.
I wonder if chauncey sits out again, i wouldnt be surprised. last chance to get any idea of the day 1 rotation though. I imagine stuckey, jennings, datome and probably DNP-CV are all out, which doesnt leave a whole lot of depth in the rotation anyway.
id say it will look something like:
siva/bynum
billups/pope
smith/singler
monroe/jerebko
drummond

will be interesting to see if mitchell and harrellson play, or if we are really looking for the day 1 rotation. id imagine they miss out if we are.
if billups is out most likely singler starts over kcp again, and mitchell comes in at the backup 3, although id prefer that pope just started.

How's KCP been looking?

Dre vs Pek
Moose vs Love

Should be a good frontcourt test. Maybe we'll even get to see Shabazz vs KCP. :)

I haven't seen Shabazz yet in the NBA, but I noticed a positive stat in his last game. They won by 23 and he was +23. The next highest player was only +12. He only had 8/6 in 18 minutes but obviously made an impact towards the win when he was on the court. That should be a good bench battle to watch tonight with KCP.

Definitely interested in seeing the minutes distribution between JJ, CV, and TMitchell tonight. Maybe CV's hurt still and doesn't play, I guess.

I know Mitchell is a rookie and makes a lot of mistakes, but what's the difference between ignorance leading to a bad play and lack of ability leading to a bad play? Sure, Tony will lose his man or make a bad decision with the ball occasionally, but Jerebko and Charlie just don't bring anything defensively at all, good decisions or not.

I know Mitchell can't shoot like those two, especially CV, but there have to be lineups he can work in, right?

Ugh -- just so tired of watched Jonas and Charlie suck.

I agree. The bench unit tends to have much more shooting aswell, so he makes a fair bit of sense to play a few minutes with rookie jonas type hustle and a whole lot of athletiscm. He can only get better as he plays more throughout the season. I definitely wouldnt be against it.

A high scoring 20-30 point game for pope today would be ideal for him now. Has shown he can do everything else, just needs to score a little bit and that might give him an inside track to start with billups for the first week that jennings is going to miss. Last chance to get these minutes for a while, hope he can take advantage of them, because it sucks seeing him struggle to shoot the ball when we know thats a strength of his.

Siva has a place in this league. It may not be this season or even the next but he belongs here.

Agree. At best, I think he can start for a really bad team or a backup for a playoff team.

Siva reminds me of a guy we'll forget about until the Spurs get their hands on him...
