Preseason Game 7: Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers 10/23

I really liked what I saw out of Redick. The way moves off the ball is going to really help this team. It's not always pretty, but I like the player movement. On one particular play where the ball was moving and it seemed like we had possession for an eternity, Mike pointed out that we still had a lot of time left on the clock. In the past, we would have been scrambling to throw up a prayer at that point because things would have gotten started much later in the shot clock.

I would have liked to have seen Bullock get a little more time, but it was great just to get him healthy and on the court period.

Mullens has me a little stressed when he's on the court. Right now, he sticks out like a sore thumb. Doc and the staff have their work cut out with him.

Would have liked to see Bullock get more minutes. With Barnes coming back, Bullock's minutes are going to be further reduced. JJ and Hollins impressed me. I feel sorry for Green if he is just used as a fill in guard during the season like last year.

In the post-game interview, Doc said Bullock will get good minutes on Friday. He said guarding Hayward in your first NBA experience isn't the easiest task.

Doc keeps saying that the offense is far off, and despite poor defense the past two games, the defense is much further ahead, so it will be nice to see the offense slowly get to where it needs to be.

Mullens is really bad right now, but I mean our realistic expectation wasn't that he would be "good", but still, less bad. Hopefully he picks it up, but backup bigs are still a scary issue for this team. I feel like the D-League season could produce a more serviceable big than the current guys.

I think the Mullens experiment is near its end. If he's not hitting his 3's, he really has no value. The other bigs all bring something to the table. I foresee a trade for a serviceable big in the near future.

Is he really having that awful of a preseason? I have only watched about 1 1/2 games bc I don't get prime ticket

He's shooting 31.2% from the field, 29.5% from 3 (he's attempted 44). He's 1 for 4 from deep in the last 2 games, which means that he attempted 40 3's through his first 5 games. Yikes. He was solid in our first meeting against the Jazz and in the Phoenix game, meh to horrible in the other games. If you take out the 2 decent games, he shot 22.2% from the field and 20% from 3. He doesn't offer much else besides the threat of perimeter shooting. However, if he's not hitting them at a higher rate, then he's not really improving the spacing.

His career best from outside is 31.7%. We need him around 34.5-35% at least. For example, Matt Barnes takes a lot of three's and he only shot 34.2% from outside last season, but he does so much more that he's going to help you far more than he hurts you. Mullens doesn't have the intangibles or tangibles to justify a consistent role in the rotation atm.

Great. Maybe I liked him on Charlotte bc the team sucked, so he got his. Oh well, hopefully he can find his stroke
