Re: Eric Bledsoe
I think McDonough should call his old boss Danny Ainge and ask him what kind of contract he's giving Avery Bradley. Just to get an estimate of the range where players like Bledsoe and Bradley go.
*not saying Bledsoe is only as good as Bradley but I believe they should be getting paid in the same range.

Give him 12 for 3 and this could be his last stop, if he cooperates. Bird in the hand for him. If not, so be it. If he takes his option and becomes good trade bait as an expiring stretch big. He may not want to jump ship and have to move a couple more times. I think I'd hold that as leverage over his head.
The only other place he might go is Portland. I think he lives there in the off season, and spent most of last year there rehabbing during his heart ailment.
But yeah, I could see him giving a home team discount to the Suns at a decent contract.
Of course if he remains healthy and lights it up as a stretch 4 some desperate team might make him a lucrative offer.

Its way too soon to think about extending Frye. His current bad contract has 2 years left on it. Other than as an expiring next year I expect him to have little to no value. If the Suns do decide to keep him beyond 2 years I think he will be attainable on a year to year basis given his health history and erratic play.

Foolishness ... Frye was a starting C/PF on a WCF team that almost made it to the finals. He rebounds, blocks shots, plays good defense, and has a great 3pt shot. He's on a very reasonable contract at $6.4M.
Bad is
Kris Humphries at $12M
Charlie V at $8.5M
Amare $21M
Biedrins $9M
Okafor $14M
Childress $7.3M
Ben Gordon $13.2M
Brendan Haywood $7M
and I could add a dozen more.
The guy got unlucky and caught a virus which enlarged his heart. I'm expecting him to contribute mightily for the Suns this season by opening driving lanes for Bledsoe and Dragic.

This is 2013, and Eric Bledsoe =/= Josh Childress.
E-Eled is getting Mike Conley money, at least. 45mil over 5

That was 4 years ago. Frye's worth has been argued into dust, but I think most people outside of Suns fans would be very suspect of taking on Frye. He has a lot to prove this year. And I do not expect him to contribute much this year because I dont expect him to shoot well... and if Frye cant shoot he is worthless.
And justifying one bad contract by pointing out other dumb contracts is a pointless exersize. Its still a s***ty contract, I dont care if there are other s***ty contracts around the league.

Re: Eric Bledsoe
Considering he hasn't really proved anything, he shouldn't be getting more than like 5 or 6 million a year.
But this is the NBA, and overpaying on potential is the name of the game. He'll probably get 9 or 10 million a year knowing how that goes.

That would be absolutely ridiculous. Paying a backup $9M/yr without even seeing how he plays as a starter?
Its one thing if he was like Harden and was destroying coming off the bench and winning 6th man of the year awards but no.
Mike Conley would demand a freaking raise immediately if he found out that Bledsoe is making as much as him.

IMO Bledsoe is as good as Conley, if not better. He just didn't get the opportunity to show what he can do.

Re: Eric Bledsoe
Bledsoe is going to have a breakout year and I can see someone (Orlando Magic) throwing 12+ mil to him next summer.
In the long run it would probably be smart extending him at 9 mil per year now. It`s a risk but a justified one.

Pretty sure all he's done since being able to not get out of bed is shoot. I doubt it's his shot that suffers this season, and am thinking it will be moreso his conditioning that is going to be a bit lacking.

Re: Eric Bledsoe
If we can extend him for $35m over 4, take it.
In the open market there are some STUPID contracts being offered, and as others have said a team like ORL could pair him with Oladipo on a rookie contract and not worry about the cap hit.
Last thing we want is to match something like $48m over 4...
McD will do his due diligence I'm sure.

Re: Eric Bledsoe
I'm betting he (Bled) is inked up soon. There is no point to drag it out. I'd think he and his agent would have seen enough to make phnx a profitable home for the next 3-4 yrs. We have the space and so many options to free up cash next yr.
yup... sounds about right give or take a paltry 2-3 mill
Lets hope he exceeds your expects.... and so true on the latter. He needs more time to get his game legs. we'll see in a couple months.... but even then, he wont be any better than what he has been. He's no bargain at 6 mill, but it isnt a horrible deal... IF he performs. May be the best move is to let him expire, as long as we do not the cap space for other transactions.

Frye does everything perfect for us. What's with all the hate about him? I don't think his contract is that bad.

Re: Eric Bledsoe
There is no hate.... but it seems many are banking on a better Frye than his last run. He does fit the need here.... but he hasn't balled it up for a long time. His shot still isn't there as he didn't draw iron on a couple of his 3pt jacks last game.
So be it... we have him and his $$ isn't effecting any future transactions really. Lets hope he can regain his form and provide 20 minutes of decent ball.
I'm still leaning towards Plumlee being the better choice at PF for us. May be not starting, but the kid looks like he will force his way into the rotation. His D is the deciding factor, over both MoBro1 and Fryebaby

He's a 6'11 big man who can pretty much only shoot. His defense , "post game" and rebounding have improved but it's average at best.
Plus Frye is an incredibly inconsistent shooter.

I agree with this. Frye's confidence can be delicate, and we've seen him sink into some pretty ugly slumps because of it. Considering his absence from the game w/ the medical condition, this will have to be managed carefully. It's possible the coaching staff sucks it up for a few bad performances while he gets his groove back.
I feel like if he's benched for a long period of time we could lose him.

Pawel (Poland)
How much is too much for Bledsoe? IMO $8-9 would be fair for him right now.
Kevin Pelton
I suspect $10 million is more like a starting point in the negotiations given Bledsoe's potential value in free agency. His agent will point to guys like Jrue Holiday and Ty Lawson that got similar deals largely on potential, and Bledsoe would be the most coveted PG on the market if he got to restricted free agency next summer.
