Interestingly, Maynor's ability to lead and run the offense while missing shots and not looking good has had the same impact on his teams' offenses as Price's inability to run an offense or lead -- not much.
Maybe by some magical process Maynor will improve this season. More likely, he's going to play the way he has his previous four seasons, which is to say: below average defense, inefficient offense, decent assist numbers (but relatively high turnovers), and not much of an impact on either end of the floor.

Maynor will hopefully elevate to being an average PG during the season, but this is yet another bad contract written by Ernie Grunfeld.
* Overpaid early in FA when there were no other teams reported to be interested in Maynor
* Maynor has the 2nd-year option, not the Wizards (Why??)

If Maynor gets to average, he should get the Most Improved award. He's been bad for four seasons -- barely above replacement level at best.

Yeah, Price was alright. Seemed he needed to learn more about running an offense last year and it looked like he was learning some. Clearly he could have been had for less money and on a 1 yr min.
He and Maynor look to have similar numbers except. Maynor's AST% is 30. Price 24 and Maynor is a little lower usage 17 vs 20. Price also puts up 3's at twice the pace Maynor does. Maynor's ast/36 is 7.1 vs Price 5.2
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... 01&y2=2013
So that about what I expect to see before looking at the numbers. Maynor more a run the offense PG, Price a little less and more of a shooter from 3. So I can understand how they would see this as an upgrade if they wanted someone to run the 2nd unit. Its an upgrade in skills at back up PG I wanted to see. I wanted someone who could run the offense better. I think they view Glen as replacing any points lost.
As for Price, dude might not even make a squad this year.

Is the extra money and length of his contract worth it? I have no idea. We are going to have to watch and see.
We've gone through this before, but what's the point of having a distributor on the 2nd unit when there's hardly anyone that can score on that unit? It makes very little sense to be worried about creating shots for Seraphin, Vesely, Temple and the like when their not passable or reliable scoring options to begin with. That's why Robinson seemed like such a no-brainer to me. Get a guy that could not only "run the offense" but get plenty shots up and make them with respectable efficiency.
Your like a Fox Noise Reporter DAT.
Kevin, Ves and Temple ? Thats your list of players to set up with the second unit.
So your going to leave out Glen Rice, Webster, Otto, and AH ?
Now add Temple, Ves and Kevin to the list and you have something more complete.
And he isn't only going to play with just those players. Depending on how Randy does the rotations, he could be out there with Beal sometimes. And yes, Kevin needs the ball passed to him by someone. I think that could be a PG. AH hit Kevin for a Ally Op last game. Ves can op. I expect Maynor to get that worked out in time. And if Wall misses a few games, someone needs to run the offense.
As for Nate..

The Washington Wizards were also expressing serious interest in Nate Robinson, but he decided on the Denver Nuggets.

Maybe there are still some guns in the lockerroom and we could have forced him to choose us.

Curious. Are there lots of teams with back up PG that are above replacement level ?
And how does Maynor compare to Price ?

Yes -- last season, 24 teams had backup PGs who rated above replacement level. That includes Miami, whose backup PGs were really Wade and Lebron. The teams that didn't have a backup who rated above replacement level: Boston, Dallas, New Orleans, Philly, Phoenix, Portland.
Hey, Portland. Isn't that where Maynor last played?
And how does Maynor compare to Price ?
Price was better.

I kind of wonder if we were courting Robinson the first day of free agency the same way as Maynor, what would have happened?

Is he on track to be worth the max deal? Does Wall's contract even matter, considering Cousins, George, and Favors all signed similar deals? Does Wall's preseason foreshadow the Wizards' season to come? I'm hyped for this season to start!![]()
Who would you rather build around, John Wall or DeMarcus Cousins?
The Starters debated that question at 53:20 of their second podcast of 101 questions for this season.

CCJ, I never said you couldn't criticize/be mad at John. He played like crap all preseason, and I pile on him too, when he has off games. I just don't think that Jrue Holiday is a better player, and Wall definitely outplayed him in that game. There's no animosity between us at all, but you threatened to filter me because I disagreed with you.
You know your basketball, and I enjoy your reading your posts (well, except for your blind support of Vesely who is also a lotto pick).
Truce?

I'm still laughing at the DCZards talking points though. It's like he totally ignores everything else because Maynor can "run the offense." I have yet to see Maynor run any type of offense, unless it means bouncing the ball for 20 seconds and either setting a teammate up for a bad shot or just flat out missing the shot himself.

He was never interested in coming here, we were out of his price range as far as how much money he was looking for.

Hmm, could that have possibly been because we had given Maynor the BAE (which Nate signed for much later on with Denver) on the first day of free agency and anointed him the backup to Wall before even opening up discussions with Nate?

Robinson signed exactly the same deal Maynor got -- 2-year BAE with a player option on the second year.

Really? I thought he signed for more, if I'm wrong my mistake. But I remember hearing reports that his agent wasn't interested in him coming to Was.

At least I hope its just that. Cause 3 points? really? has to be the case.
It wasn't a season, it was a game.
