How do you trade Gortat, Brown and Marshall, three serviceable players, for essentially Okafor? Not only did they not get back enough, they get an injured player. I'm confused. I'm guessing they want to tank hard for Wiggins, Parker and Randle.

I know this is a weird spot to put this but I didn't see a thread for it nor do I want to make one for it. What players do you want to see the Magic honor this year. My #1 would be Horace Grant. He seemed like he was one of the 1st major free agent signings for the Magic and was good during his time here. If there is another spot for this post please feel free to point me to it.

Oh boy, I expect some anger in this thread regarding Osby. Tough break for him. I liked the guy very much but he would never get minutes this season. Maybe we can stash him in the D-League if no one picks him up on waivers.

I'm surprised that Osby got waived. But he didn't really show a whole lot this preaseason to be honest. Jones did do some good things in the time he got this preseason. Could be after Hedo is waived we pick Osby back up too...

Solomon Jones played within his own, was very consistent on both ends of the floor. Glad he got the final spot but as someone already mentioned, Osby will get the last spot if we reach a buyout agreement with Turk.

lol solo jones... the dude sucks. He has some serious butter fingers. But I guess this is part of tanking by design. Just like dequan jones was for us last year.

The Washington Wizards acquired Kendall Marshall, Shannon Brown and Malcolm Lee on Friday in a deal for Marcin Gortat.

The Wizards will waive those three players as they have a roster crunch.

The 76ers are all over this, I mean don't they have only like 6 players under contract? :lol:

He's servicable, can make the sound play in spot-up mins. Very premature, but not going to be part of the rotation (barring injury) though not bad for the 15th roster spot. JV did his diligence, he played the hell out of these invites especially tonight just to see who could earn that spot.

I can't believe they waived Osby, a promising young player, to continue dicking around with Hedo's contract. There's nothing the Magic love more than playing players not to play. (See Gilbert Arenas, Al Harrington, Quentin Richardson, et al.)

Wow! I'm extremely disappointed Osby didn't make the team. This is probably the first time I've flat out disagreed with a move Hennigan made. I know chances are Osby wasn't going to be anything other than a rotation player, if even that, but it just seemed like he was the best out of the bunch. I have nothing against Jones, in fact he was probably my second pick for who should make the team, but I just thought for sure Osby had it on lock. Good young talent, hard worker, and he just seemed like a really great guy as well, so I'm definitely disappointed.

I think what pisses me off the most is knowing that Turk is taking up a spot that could have gone to Osby. Seriously, Hennigan has to get that crap figured out, and it's getting frustrating that it has taken so long, especially since now players are getting cut because of it. I'm really hoping that Osby get's brought back once the Turk stuff gets taken care of, but as for tonight I'm just really frustrated and disappointed.

I liked Osby, but I understand why Jones was chosen. Besides, we're talking about someone who's roster spot looks be a perennial bench warmer.

everyone chill I Henny has been amazing and made all the right moves and you want to argue over his choice to cut a late second round pick that prolly wasn't gonna be drafted anyways look at how valuable Okafor bad contract was Hedo is the same way his contract is much more valuable than some 15th player off bench

Osby shoulda stayed on. We are building for the future why keep a 30 something year old with no upside to take the 15 spot when you can give it to a young player with potential. I think osby is the only player to be waive that was draft this year so far.

It's a shame that Romero Osby did not make the team. The kid is a hard worker.

I wish he would have gone overseas for a year.

Given how Hedo Turkoglu is still taking a roster spot shows how much The Magic think of his contract as a trade asset.

ie the Gortat trade. Shows you the power to a disgruntled player. Gortat told them he was done and they moved him. Relevant to the Harkless convo we were having earlier. If Moe thinks he's a starter, no matter it's validity outside his head, he will get traded if he wants to be. Players have a ton of control.
