I just don't see a deal out there. Asik and Lin combined would be a cap hit of $16.6 million.
If you're looking to trade those 2 for 1 "borderline" star pf/pg then there's not many available.
I love Asik, but we should trade him IF we land Dwight

Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Do note, I don't want them traded.
I recall (might be wrong), but doesn't the cba give an allowance of matching salaries at around 150% for non taxpaying teams (or 125 for tax paying) for the sake of considering trades? I don't think we're a tax paying team right?

Re: I love Asik, but we should trade him IF we land Dwight
it will depend how much les is willing to pay the tax
remember that's how we got harden because thunder owner unwilling to pay
they have durant+westbrook+perkins+ibaka combined for about 54m
if they pay Harden 13.6m then it will be about 68m
2013-14 salary cap is 58m
the rest of the team i give you about 10m
total salary cap is about 78m
tax level is 71.7m so about 6m over
that will put them in $1.75 for $1 range
that's 11m in tax (low estimate)
so we all hope to keep the core together for 2015-16 season
remember Howard exercise his option or not got a lot to do with him like the team or not
Howard - 22.4m
Harden - 15.7m
Parsons - 12m (estimate based on Hayward extension rumor)
Asik - 10m (serviceable center get paid, how low do you think he will accept? 10m is Splitter salary)
Lin - 8-9m (similar to Ginobili salary)
Beverley - 7-8m (Lowry got around 6m)
Casspi - 6m (typical sixth man range)
Garcia - 6m (he used to make that much and he gave us a discount this year)
that's about 88m
assume the rest is minimum which make about 95m
let's assume the tax line in 2 years is 75m
so we are 20m over
that will put us in $3.75 for $1 range
that's 75m in tax

Guh! Let's adjust those numbers:
Lin: 6.5m
Bev: 5m
Casspi: 4m
Garcia: 2m
Shaves 10.5m to 78m, only 1-7m in tax.
Garcia's no core fixture.
Worst case on any of those is a trade for lots of nice draft picks.

those number are estimate in 2 years with annual raise included
we see non all-star getting 10+m per year
good rotation player usually get around 4-5m
i don't see Casspi or Garcia will accept anything less than 5
especially Garcia he gave us a big discount this year

That was Garcia's mistake. He'll be 33 next year, not a great starting position in bargaining. This was his year to get a decent contract. Not sure why 1.3 from us was the best he was able to get. I'd have thought he could manage 3 somewhere.
Omri's signed for next year at 1 million.
I'm sure there will be other pluggable budget pieces around somewhere within the next 2 years, rather than signing both those guys at their maximum demandable range.
Morey don't play that.

Morey don't play that.
because we are under the cap space and we can only use what we have to sign free agents
Garcia had a team option, Morey renounce his right so he can free up those for Howard's max contract
he see good opportunity to win with additional of Howard and this is his first team with winning record and he probably like the team too
that's why he gave Morey a big discount to re-sign for minimum
(we can only sign minimum deal after spending all cap space on Howard and Canaan -- yes the left over Morey spent it on Canaan for 3 years deal, minimum max is only 2 years, 3 years can make him restricted free agent and not losing him in free agent like Arenas)
Morey in return give him 2 years a player option so he can sign a bigger one
and because we still own his bird's right so we can sign him to a better deal than allow
maybe signing a new team will lost his bird right and he doesn't want that
so he can probably get around 4m/year in new deal
i just add 1m more for making up to him
Casspi 2nd year i think is team option
so we can still have him for cheap next year
but 3rd year (that's where my estimate is) will be bigger if he show he can play
i forgot we don't have his bird right i'm not so sure we can even sign him to 6m
probably can use the mle
