Mike Miller and the whole scam debacle

Post#1 » by truthiness » Sat Oct 26, 2013 2:14 am

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/98789 ... s-released

Initial report claimed Mike "seriously considering" suing the Heat.
That would have seemed a bit out of character and would have meant that Mike left on bad terms.

I am glad this doesn't seem to be the case.
I hope it's just his lawyer trying to do stuff on his/her own, and stupidly threatening the Heat (or trying to shame them) in the media.

I have always wondered why Mike Miller name was the only one released out of the players involved in the scam.

Miller said Fine was not authorized to tell the Miami Herald that he was considering a lawsuit.

“I regret the unauthorized information shared disclosing a potential lawsuit and my private business dealings in the recent news reports,” Miller wrote in a text message to The Associated Press. “The Heat has always supported me and my family and we are grateful for our relationship with the team and its owners. They have given me and my family more than we could have ever asked for and for that I am so thankful!!”

he is wed the money. If stolen property or money is tracked it can be recovered. this isnt a fued thing its a simple legal issue. The Heat would then need to recovered the ticket money from the thief. Lets say it was a stolen car and the thief then sold the car to a third party. both the first and third party would going after the thief and the car would be returned to the first party.

I took that as the lawyer pushing for a lawsuit (big surprise) while Miller wasn't really sure if he wanted to go that way.

So if the government sent a private contractor to your house to do some work, and the contractor takes your money and disappear. You dont think the government have some responsiblity?? And most people would sue both the government and the private contractor. This could be the same situation. So if the Heat advertised the crook services to their employees the heat may be liable.

And usually when the victim threat to sue the people who advertised the scam, its to get the organization to either go after the crook on the victim behalf and pay for all the court and lawyer cost.

Meh, the Heat had to do what they had to do for business reasons in amnestying Mike Miller.

He got scammed, I wouldn't be surprised if he did everything he could to get that money back (and maybe more), who the hell wouldn't?

Apparently his lawyer is the one who is pushing this as others have stated, but we'll see how this goes. Things wouldn't be great with MM anymore though, which would be awkward.

Also Lewis and JJ are in this mess too, which sucks. Lewis has the money but I'm surprised JJ tried this too.

Just to clear things up, it's not your team, is Micky Arison's.

And you might show a little love to the guy who helped bring that 2nd title.
Those 7 3's were huge, and the fact that the Heat were up 3-1 in the series doesn't make them less important. If they lose that game, it's 3-2 and OKC suddenly has some confidence and they're heading back home for games 6 and 7.

As for the potential suit, that's a business issue, not a basketball one.
Do you get angry at people who criticise Carnival Cruises on the Internet ?
Those negative comments might affect Arison's income, after all (albeit in a very very tiny percentage).

Tried to convince myself to appreciate the guy who was supposed to be part of the 'big 4' turns out to be injury prone averaging 5.5ppg 3.5rpg.

I can't.
