I think Gortat at C will make this team win 51 games.

The Wizards got a better C than Okafor. I'm pretty sure Wizard fans will turnaround on this even more than the Okafor/Ariza deal, once Gortat is re-signed. He'll stay in DC.

During the season do you believe Ariza will be shopped?
He was a major piece in the last season push. But if he gets shopped what will happen?

Also what about Webster? What if he doesnt step up to last season's standards?

I'm going to drop this to 37 wins. Not only will Okafor's injury cost the team 5 wins, it also robs me of my Douglas Adams reference. :(

I'm not a huge fan of the trade, but it does let me change my prediction back to 42. Don't Panic. :)

Yes, KH. Ariza's definitely being shopped. He's starting, which is smart, because it will get TA's numbers way up.

I proposed Ariza/Booker for Nash in the trade thread. ( Even better deals: Ariza/Maynor or Ariza/Singleton.) The Lakers are tanking, they're loaded at PG with Blake and Farmar. Farmar and Ariza played key roles with Pau and Kobe on a title team years back. Nash might not initially like being a Wizard, but he's familiar with Gortat and would be coming to play with class act, Beal, and motivated-to-be-MVP John Wall. Heck, Nash could be the head coach next season if he wishes (or an assistant to Wittman).

Another Ariza trade: To Denver, for Andre Miller. Miller would be IDEAL as a backup to Wall.

Yes, I think Ariza will be traded and Porter will play this season. With Steve Nash or Andre Miller, the Wizards would be a 50-plus win team. Denver's new management might part ways with Ty Lawson, too. That would be just AWESOME if Ariza/Maynor could go for Lawson.

I started at 50...then Mek got injured so I said 51 just to go against a trend...then 45 after watching some pre season struggles....I think....Now with Gortat we'll be a good team, but it might take a month or so for us to hit our stride...will be some growing pains as you have a very new, but big component on the floor. I think 49 wins...but a lot of them coming near the end of the season prepping for a relevant playoff push :D

45-50 maybe more just depends who is going to take pressure off of Wall so he doesn't have to do everything on the court.

Yeah, gotta look at the whole league to figure out the right number. Still some good team in the West. Brooklyn, CHI are better in the East. Teams tanking.

Seems a lot easier to predict them as a 5th slots playoff team then and actual record. Specially since we haven't seen this configuration for even one game.

Put me back in for 44 now that we again have more than one decent big man.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

I've dabbled. Quite stressful but it is something I think everyone ought to try out so long as it is feasible for them. I'm sure there are analogies with financial investment returns and whether or not your team will prove to be worth a damn in a given season.

Yeah. I think there is going to be a late flood of upward adjustments.

I'm still letting this all sink in before throwing out the final number.

Sizing them up against Indy and NY right now.

Okay, here's my post-trade revision: I'm going with 43 wins. And no day trading for me. I prefer the San Antonio Spurs version of investing: indexed mutual funds.

Predict the Wizards Record '13-'14 season.

Wall's shooting and half-court game, I'm not-sure how-far he can take this group. As Gilbert used to say, I'm thinking 35-39 wins....today.

Edit: Nene health is also a factor.

Still boils down to Nene's health and Wall's erratic shooting. Still at 27.

Guess I need to update my prediction for the fourth time now that we've gone and done this trade. I'll bump up my previous 33-49 and instead go with a 36-46 record as my final pick. No playoffs, but on the plus side, that would mean keeping our draft pick for this year, so yay?

I'm going 43 wins, like willbcocks. That might be optimistic, but we'll see. I AM expecting Wall and Beal to have career years, and anything less will lead to another lottery season.
