Also means Montreal sneaks into the playoffs.

I wonder if they can recover from their downward spiral.

Not sure, but I do know Brad Davis is healthy, as long as him and Talley Hall are playing, they'll always have a shot of winning. They're always a scary team to face, last year they went into the playoffs in poor form and somehow made it all the way to the MLS Cup final.

Good times for soccer in New York. NY Cosmos won the NASL fall season championship a few days ago and punched their ticket to the Soccer Bowl next month against the Atlanta Silverbacks. If anyone is interested in watching that, I think i read the ESPN will be showing that game.

My prediction for the Playoffs:

Seattle over Colorado

L.A. over Salt Lake

L.A. over Portland

Montreal over Houston
New York over Montreal
Sporting KC over New England

Sporting KC over New York

L.A. over Sporting KC

Make a prediction, we'll see who gets close to correct.

Beckham to start MLS team in Miami

With his playing career over, former England captain David Beckham has decided his next move: starting a Major League Soccer team in Miami.

Since leaving the Los Angeles Galaxy in December, and retiring from the game after a subsequent five-month stint at Paris Saint-Germain, Beckham has been mulling over the location for his MLS franchise.

Beckham has now made up his mind and he will pay a discounted rate of $25 million to start an MLS expansion team in Miami, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because plans for the team aren’t being publicly discussed yet.

The option of becoming a team owner was included in the MLS contract Beckham signed when joining the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007.

"We know that Miami is one of the most passionate soccer markets in North America," MLS Executive Vice-President Dan Courtemanche told the AP. "We have met with David Beckham regarding ownership of an expansion team, and we look forward to David one day owning an MLS club."

There are currently 19 MLS teams, and league commissioner Don Garber hopes to expand to 24 teams by the 2020 season. A 20th team is already in place to begin playing in 2015 after Premier League club Manchester City and its partner, the New York Yankees, paid an expansion fee of $100 million to launch New York City FC.

The MLS still has to give Beckham the go-ahead to make Miami the location of the franchise.

That 24 teams by 2020 is an interesting idea. It means we could see 2 more announcements of deals with teams soon. It should be interesting to see where they end up.

I'd love to see something in Arizona, hopefully it'd be a relocated and rebranded Chivas USA team.

I don't think the next two will be announced for awhile.

Likely will go New York 2015, Orlando 2016, Miami 2017

Then a small break as the league catches up to the influx of extra players.

The last two teams will likely be in 2020, 2021 so my guess is no announcements until 2015 or 16'

I have always felt Chivas should go to San Diego.

Arizona would be a good location for a new franchise though.

They are really pushing for Orlando to start in 2015 even though the new stadium wont be finished thru halfway thru the season.

That's why I doubt it happens. If MLS is smart they will wait until 2016.

MLS PLAYOFFS START TONIGHT

Seattle Sounders host the Colorado Rapids tonight at 10:30pm EST live on NBCSN. Single knockout game, winner goes on to play the Portland Timbers

My prediction, Rapids win 1-0. Deny everyone of a much anticipated Timbers/Sounders playoff duel.

I guess if there's any keeper you'd love to have available off the bench, it's a former US International with EPL experience. Hahnemann is the x-factor now.

Not sure what has happened to Gspurning lately. This guy was dominating last year and this year has had a complete meltdown. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last we see of him this year, Hahnemann has been solid in all his showings this year,

Anyway, how awesome is a two legged series between Portland and Seattle going to be? Im pretty excited for it, it's going to be great for MLS to see these two in a playoff setting. With that and RSL vs LA, I gotta say, the west playoffs looks much more attractive than the east playoffs :).

Don't forget to catch the Houston Dynamo vs Montreal Impact at 8:30pm EST on Thursday. Winner plays the New York Red Bulls.
