Yup. 3 weeks. Precautionary. Meant to rest the calf and keep it from becoming an issue.
Doesn't seem to be connected to the bum knee.
Still, doesn't bode well.

Re: Granger to miss three week
I'm beginning to wonder if he shouldn't have played those five games last season and sat out the whole season rehabbing.

Re: Granger to miss three week
when he is healthy, he'll have to play himself back into game shape which suggests he'll come off the bench at first. I now think that's a good thing. I like Lance a lot but I just don't think he is ready to be the number one option at this point. he plays much better with the first unit where he is the fourth option. much less pressure there as others can make the play and swing the ball to him. otoh, a healthy Granger will have no problem being the number one option when PG is resting as he's been a number one option for most of his career.
in the meantime, I think Scola will need to be more assertive. I think he is deferring as the new guy in town, but I think the second unit needs to get comfortable playing through Lois.

I feel like at this point there should always be an asterisk on any Granger injury update.

.SETTING THE PACE
The Indiana Pacers are the NBA’s lone undefeated team and Paul George is quickly entering into the conversation of best players not named LeBron.
But all is not perfect in America’s heartland. According to a source, Danny Granger is experiencing soreness in his surgically repaired left knee after missing most of last season.
The veteran forward is currently sidelined with a left calf injury that could keep him out another two weeks. The greater concern is his long-term health of his knee and whether Granger will regain his form.
Even without Granger, the team built by Larry Bird and Donnie Walsh has enough talent and size to overtake the Miami Heat. Power forward Luis Scola will turn out to be one of the top moves of the offseason

Re: Granger to miss three week
On the positive side, we haven't seen what Copeland can bring us off the bench, so right now we are winning without he and Danny, and even if we don't get Danny back, ever, Cope might be able to fill that role that Danny would off the bench. But I firmly believe we NEED at least one of them. I don't trust Solo Hill yet.

I don't think Solo has shown a lot so far, but a guy that has pleasantly surprised me is OJ. He might not be a stellar addition in the box score but each time he has come on he has brought a load of hustle and spirit which is great. He's also been defending pretty well. Is the production line continuing?

Vogel is Dutch for Bird.

How can it not be true? At this point, i just expect the worst. I am not sure we'll ever see Granger play for the Pacers in a competitive nature again.

OJ has been excellent. Essp on defense. He's been a in-your-face defender. He needs to work on his layups though. lol
I think he's missed atleast 3 easy elementary sitters so far. OJ has been a nice addition to the bench in the absence of Granger.
As for Solomon Hill, i don't think he's shown much either, however, from all i've read from Vogel and Bird in training camp, it seemed like they didn't even expect him to play until around December unless it was garbage time, and he's played as soon as the 1Q, sometimes even coming in as the first player off the bench. So, i guess that is a massive positive. Solo will get better by each game we play.

Re: Granger to miss three week
Btw, Granger refutes the report by Isola of knee-soreness.

Re: Granger to miss three week
Solo has shown the ability to defend the three spot. I don't think the team is looking for him to score this early in his career but as long as he isn't giving up points, he'll get PT. I don't think we have anyone else who can do better guarding the small forward spot when Paul needs to rest. OJ and CJ can spell Lance at the two and of course PG can do that too but eventually we'll need Danny to be the other scoring option at the three.
I discounted the Granger knees story the minute I saw that it came from a NYC paper.

Re: Granger to miss three week
Admist all this news and wondering about Danny I think it's gotten lost that, what if he does come back to near perfect form and just how much more dominate can we get as a team? If we add the Danny of old to this team, watch out.

At this point, i think that's pretty unrealistic. I don't think Danny will ever be anywhere near his old form again.

Re: Granger to miss three week
Per Candace Buckner on twitter, Granger to return to practice tomorrow. So much for that NYT report...
