How long will the rebuild take?

Post#1 » by rsavaj » Sun Oct 27, 2013 6:01 pm

I know that Bleacher Report has a reputation that leaves much to be desired but some of the Suns articles are actually pretty good, and I thought this one written by Sam Cooper (scooper here on the boards and on reddit's nba sub, I think) was worth sharing:

The rebuilding time depends on what we do this season and offseason/draft transactions.

If we get a top 3 draft pick and possibly trade up using our other picks and get in the top 5, and throw everything we have at a superstar in the offseason then we should be good next season.

What if we drafted Randle. Then made a pitch to Lebron. He'd have a potential dominant PF to play with. Plus so many assets we could use to trade (or develop) for help.

I realize it's not likely but it would have to be enticing at the least for him.

For fun let's just say Lebron does have some interest in coming here, it will be because we'd already have a star on the roster. A rookie won't do it for him unless we can acquire a star using all of our other assets besides our own pick (in which case McD would get a lifetime contract).

True. Maybe if we snagged Love somehow.

I just hope we can, at the very least, get him to talk to McDonough. He has to be impressed with the work done so far.
I think we'll have enough for a max contract this coming summer so I see no way he doesn't at least try to go after LeBron.

LeBron in PHO is obviously a wishful thinking.

The more realistic option would be going after one of Love/Horford/Aldridge/Monroe if we draft stud sf (Wiggins/Parker) next summer. If Goodwin, Len, Plumlee and Morris twins develop that would be an exciting, young, high-octane team.

As a formality, sure...the Suns will "go after" LeBron. You don't *not* offer him something if he hits the market. That being said, it's not happening.

Hey, thanks for posting this her rsavaj! I really appreciate it.

And yeah, I'm pretty easy to track down considering that I use a similar username for almost all websites. I'm scooper here, on Reddit, and on BSOTS as well.
