Re: Otto Porter
Were they on the road trip? If so, then likely tomorrow. If Otto gets healthy and gets in a a solid week of practice, I can see him gettiing some limited pt earlier than expected w/ the scoring issues on the second team. You could have Martell/Otto play together some at the 2/3.

He'll play I just wonder how soon until this season basically becomes a lost season for him. Let's say he comes back in early December (I consider this optimistic). He'll be so far behind the curve he's unlikely to get regular rotation minutes. Wittman will be coaching for his job and it's doubtful he'll play such a green rookie.
I think Porter's rookie year will go a lot like Nick Youngs. Remember how N1 didn't get any burn to start the season? Then when he played it was so sporatic. That's acceptible when we're talking about the 16th pick in the draft, but when it's the 3rd pick in the draft who was tauted as the "most NBA-ready" it's completely different.

ok...this had better not be his FIRST MRI regarding this whole hip flexor fiasco. If so, that is simply inexcusable.

I think Porter has a bright future ahead of him. Would love if the Sixers could trade for him.

I'd do Noel for him straight up. But that's all the sixers have that I'd want.

sad thing is you know there's zero chance we'd have picked him if he'd had the same injury on draft night

Huh? The front office is short sighted for picking players that aren't injured?

why they wait this long to do this? again seem like EG stealthing like they did JV. notice how the wiz went through this same thing during the JV draft. he was drafted and sat out early media and games with injury excuse, so nobody could see his talent level. smh.

Hey LR -- let me ask you again: why do you like and defend Ernie Grunfeld? Just look at his 10 seasons as our GM and give me your reasons, please? How hard can that be?
Really don't repeat this to instigate an argument -- I mean that. I would just like to know? There must be something behind your POV, some reason for it.

Re: Otto Porter
^ Well that post wasn't in defense of anybody, and I don't want to take this thread off topic. I just didn't really get the logic - the Wizards may not have drafted Porter if he had a serious injury on draft night, but since he has an injury now it proves the team is short sighted because they could have drafted Noel (who probably won't play at all this year).
I get that some folks would have preferred to take a shot at Noel's longterm potential if he can recover from his injury. But to somehow correlate that with Porter's current injury doesn't really jive IMO.

Oh I don't disagree w/ your post.
I just want you to tell me and the rest of us why you like and defend Ernie as a GM. It's curious to me that you don't provide your reasoning. It must be compelling to you, given that you have the guy as your avatar no less!

Ted Leonsis - medical staff, we're good there.

That would be one of the absolute definitions of short-sighted; We change our draft order due to short-term concerns. So, to answer your question, yes!

yup, not sure where the confusion is
If we knew Otto wouldn't have been ready until the all-star break I don't see us having the patience to pick him even if he was the BPA on the board.

EG and Ted/EG have made good moves and back moves. That has already been outlined. Doing it again is going to make a difference ?
We are evaluating this move and we won't know the outcome of it until see the outcome.
Clearly they missed out on other opportunities.
But at the end of the day, its about what results you get. Right ? We are about to see some of that.
Has it been a straight line of efficiency. Of course not. But can they still get to contention ?
http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2013/10/2 ... f:nbahpt3b
The Wizards were a League Pass special before the out-of-nowhere deal. Now they're both that and a team close to true contention.
==
Some are starting to speculate they are. When the last time you hear that ?
When is the last time you saw anyone slot them at 6th ?

I think the point was, he would have been valued differently. More in line with Len and Noel with Noel being the worst of the injury concerns.
Otto - hip flexer.. not a big deal
Len.. bad ankles. moderate concern.
Noel. ACL and broken growth plate. Major concern.
I don't think an Otto hip flexer would have changed their minds.

Lets be real. No matter who the Wizards draft, they're gonna have injury problems.

we could draft bruce willis from unbreakable and he'd end up being day-to-day
