watching Pistons games from out of state

Post#1 » by smithbrown » Tue Oct 29, 2013 8:25 pm

Greetings- I am a long time Pistons fan and have recently moved to NC. I've made several attempts to watch games. Got FSD and found out they were blocked out here. Looked into a league pass which didn't seem god. At the end of last season I thought i had found a web source that would allow me to view the games the next day which is fine with me. But that no longer seems t be available now. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks- Paul

League pass was going to be my suggestion. With the league pass online, I believe you can pick a couple certain teams and get their games that way.

Also, FSD blacks out games now?

You could get Dish and that you are going to use the equipment in Detroit and get them to set up your local stations to Detroit. I don't know if it is easy, but a friend of mine in NorCal gets LA local stations on his Dish.

I did league pass online one year. It was nice.

But yeah, I've never lived in the state of Michigan and the League Pass has been a godsend for me since its inception 12 or so years ago.

Pretty sure we aren't supposed to post streams, but hopefully just links to the general site are ok...

nope

Also the Pistons will at least get some national TV games this year.

That being said, this is the first time where a) I'm gainfully employed, b) live out of state, and c) the Pistons look to actually be worth paying to see on League Pass, so I may consider getting it this year.

Buy League Pass, it's worth it. This is coming from someone who may have spent years watching all the games on illegal streams.

Ive watched illegal streams and they have worked perfectly fine even internationally with terrible internet.

Paying for league pass is a joke.
$125 for Internet Access
$50 for Mobile only

Im sorry I am not paying $125 to access games that are available for free on the internet.

Only way I see league pass being worth it is to get the TV package which will enable you to watch in HD but runs $189 for the triple play (internet, mobile, TV access).

Like another poster said...use google, search his sites or ATDHE, and enjoy the Pistons on the road!

I'm hoping the Pistons will have nationally televised games again

Another legal option would be to buy a slingbox (Although I think some broadcast companies are not fond of it, it is still a one to one stream, not one to many, so for now its still legal). This let's you redirect your cable/satellite from your home to one other device. So I think basically what you would need is someone, maybe your family is still in the Detroit area, that has cable and FSD. You pay for another set top box to be added to their home, as if you were just adding another tv in their household. Then you can redirect that cable box to your slingbox wherever you are. I think the quality is much better than the illegal streaming sites too.

I haven't tried this way myself, but I have a friend from New Orleans who does this to watch all the Saints games. He just pays his mom back home an extra $10/month or whatever to be on their cable, instead of paying for his own cable in the local market, plus the cost of the slingbox player itself.

Of course another option is buying League pass at a reduced price. Call your provider and tell them you are interested in NBA League pass but you only have X amount and they most likely will take it. I ordered NFL Sunday ticket (auto renewel) and then tried to cancel it and they gave it to me at 75% off.

Online broadband select is nice. Then if you have Roku, AppleTV, or something like that you should be able to stream it through your TV.

Just get league pass and break it down into 4 payments. your bill will go up $45 for 4 months if you dont want to pay $190

Streams i find are normally crap quality and after a certain point its pointless to watch.

Another thing you can try (will attempt myself) Buy the online league pass only and buy a chromecast to sync it to your tv

Does League Pass Broadband have chromecast functionality? (more than just casting the tab?) I have a chromecast, and if you just stream a tab, like an illegal stream or any other site, compared to a youtube video with a little chromecast button, the quality seems to get a lot worse. Like sports streams are even laggier than normal.

I have a chromecast, so I guess I could test it with the free league pass trial

No, there's not a native functionality, but it will cast the tab just like Sunday Ticket. If you have a Roku, Apple TV, PS3 or 360, you can also access League Pass with the Broadband plan through apps for those platforms.
