Agree 100%. Maybe true of the Jamison deal as well.

But he can be questioned for bringing AJ here. Again, once here, its was about Abe. He loved AJ only second to Gil. The leader of men. Couldn't even get Dray to catch the first bus.

After adding Gil. Gi was a scorer that didn't play D. AJ was way expensive and he was a tweaner PF that didn't play D. Captain Olay.

That to me was the wrong player to add.

CB on the other had was a good choice. Specially given it only cost Kwame.

The player I wanted instead of AJ was KMart. Now he ended up injured a bunch but they was the kind of player they needed up front.

AJ on the other hand would have been awesome off the bench. Just like he was in Dallas. Dude got way over paid for what he was. He should have been making like 7M a year.

Given we added Gil and AJ, I wanted both traded and CB kept. Which seemed crazy at the time by that would have worked out for them if they did that. Could have gotten a ton for Gil the year he opted out. And AJ could have gotten you something as well.

Lots of if and buts along the way. The road less traveled. Back to the future stuff.

After that, what choice did EG have ? You think Abe was going to let him trade him at his peak like I wanted ?

You think fans here would have applauded that ?

Again, EG can be bashed for things, Gil is not one of them.

Part of a GM's job is figuring out how to sell a plan to the owner. The fans will hop on board when they see results.

The question is simple...

"Do you think we can win a championship as long as Gilbert Arenas is our best player?"

I realize the Wiz were desperate then (just like they are now) to be relevant again, but someone should have given Abe the straight scoop. I gotta think he wanted more from his team than 45-wins and a 1st round out - and that's what those teams were - at best.

Getting anything for Kwame was certainly a coup for Ernie, but of course he wouldn't have needed to make that move if he didn't offend Larry by offering him less than the other members of their "big 3". Of course it turned out neither was much of a solution because Larry was made of glass, and Caron struggled to stay healthy as well.

This is all very relevant, because here Ernie goes again slapping patches on a team to get them in to the playoffs. Even if he is eventually fired, the next GM may be down a draft pick next season ... and Gortat may very well walk.

I say promote Ernie to a position symbolically above the GM. Hire a new GM. Troy Weaver.

Yes and yes. This is legitimately what I think will happen.

Troy Weaver is one of the hottest up and coming names in the GM world. He's from DC. He's had the opportunity to interview for GM jobs in the past, but has declined, despite publicly stating that his dream is to one day be a GM, because he's waiting for the right opportunity. We are the right opportunity.

I also think Ernie stays on as a senior consultant of sorts. Not necessarily above the GM, even symbolically, but possibly. He can be the President of Basketball Operations and Weaver can be the GM, where Weaver is actually the one calling the shots.

I'm less sure about this, but I think Ernie will "step down" and do this to himself, unless we shock the world this season and get a top 4 seed or something like that. He knows he's not wanted here by the vast majority of the fan base. I think after so long it's gotta take a toll on him, and he knows what the right thing to do is. Give somebody else a shot. It's an easy way to go out without getting fired.

Ernie is going to get a contract extension.

If Ted didn't can him when he took over, and he didn't can him based on his performance since, why on earth wouldn't he keep him going forward?

If we miss the playoffs, my money says EG is out the door. However, this thread itself will more than likely bring down the RealGM site because of packet saturation(aka: brute force attack).

With the Boston Celtics as the leading candidate to acquire his rights, Romero Osby is finalizing a deal to sign in the NBA D-League, league sources told RealGM.

Osby was a final cut of the Orlando Magic, who selected the rugged, active forward with the No. 51 pick in the NBA draft. Since Osby’s release in training camp, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Brooklyn Nets have also expressed interest in him, sources said.

Fort Wayne currently owns rights to Osby, but the Celtics’ D-League affiliate – the Maine Red Claws – are working to acquire the 23-year-old. The Celtics have one roster spot open and could call up Osby at a point that is flexible on the team’s salary situation.

Osby averaged 16 points and seven rebounds last season at the University of Oklahoma. He was part of the Magic’s summer league team and became one of the last rookie signings to officially join his drafted organization.

In seven preseason games for the Magic, Osby averaged 5.7 points and four rebounds in 15.4 minutes a game.

Can anyone on the board ever recall the Wizards ever doing anything remotely similar to this ^^^

Yeah... I see it coming, it's only a matter of time and I'd bet it will be done by the all-star break if not sooner unless things go horribly wrong.

Figured it made the most sense to put this here. My first Wizards blog post of the season is about Ernie:

Yeah, it's the default for the site. I can only change the font size, not the type. I know Kev was looking into it, but no change yet.

I guess you could always cut/paste into Word or something else and read it there.

I tried several times to get it changed, but no luck. You should email Brian directly. Email me if you don't have his address -- I'll send it to you.

Just fyi -- I bailed on 365 and I'm now writing at my own blog.

In every draft Dumars has picked after EG, however, EG has been outwitted by one of the most maligned GM's in the game:

2009 - Washington picked Jermaine Taylor (sold) - Dumars picked Jerebko (rotation player)
2010 - Monroe drafted after Wall - EG blew picks on Seraphin and Booker
2011 - Knight (traded for Jennings) drafted after Vesely - Dumars also picked Singler (rotation player)
2012 - Drummond was drafted after Beal

Add me to the list not happy with the font, but happy with the article.

Does 0-7 get EG fired? If Philly is actually a decent team, I think this is a possibility.

Not saying Wittman should be fired, but I think a start that bad would get him fired.
