Exactly, JJ Redick had a great year last year... And that was with Jameer and no stars around. Now he has hands down the best PG in the game on his team as well as Griffin, Jordan and even Dudley who's a great shooter himself. It's gonna be fun watching JJ on that team.

That Clippers team with the addition of Howard was the team we were all dreaming about 2 years ago.
What could have been..

JJ Redick must have too.
Udonis must have hit his prime at 20 before he bounced around the D-League and Europe. What about Ben Wallace who was undrafted and played D-League?
Seriously, do people actually think that only 20 year olds can be developed in the NBA?
Its not just the age. The point is that players develop physical skill sets as their careers progress. Sefelosha and Ariza for example developed an outside shot which they didnt have coming into the league.
Lebron's FG% was like 31% his rookie Yr, now at 56%. 3pt 29%, last yr %40 Every year in the league his FG % increased.
Go look at career per36 stats. All the players you mentioned were just about right on their career averages and close to the same stats as their last year played by year 2 of their careers.
JJ Redick
Year 2: 18.3PPG, 2.3APG, 3RPG
Year 7: 16.6PPG, 4.6APG, 2.6RPG.
Career Avg PER 36: 15.2PPG, 3.2APG, 2.2RPG
Redic would have been in the 3's for APG if he hadn't been on the Magic that season, where he played as a distributor unlike normal. Still, very close.
Udonis Haslem
Year 2: 11.7PPG, 9.8RPG, 0.6BPG
Year 8: 10.9PPG, 11.1RPG, 0.4BPG
Career Avg PER36: 11.1PPG, 9.6RPG
Ben Wallace
Year 2: 6.6PPG, 10.4RPG, 2.3BPG
Year 6: 6.9PPG, 10.9RPG, 1.5BPG
Career Avg Per 36: 7PPG, 11.8RPG, 2.4BPG
Lebron James
Year 2: 23.1PPG, 6.1APG, 6.2RPG
Year 10: 25.5PPG, 6.9APG, 7.6RPG
Career Avg Per 36: 25PPG, 6.3APG, 6.6RPG
Some players had outlier stats in one area in one season or another, like Ben Wallace had a couple seasons with 13/14 RPG, but others in the 10s. Still, as you can see, and in most cases, PER 36 will be fairly accurate in season 2 of just about any player's career. If a player undergoes a role change, that does effect the accuracy. There are exceptions for sure, I think Tony Parker comes to mind, and I'm not talking about percentages, just PER36 stats.

Hey guys. I got off work at 1:30 am local, so I didn't chime into the game discussion. But here we go.
Nicholson; holy hell.
Aa: be aa'ing. Guys trash as a first option, which is how he sees himself.
Meer: other than a few passes, garbage.
Koq: fouled less?
Vuc: less rebounding...flagrant foul wtf?
Dipo: not given enough pt. great hustle. Like Armstrong 2.0 plus skill.
JV: tank commander, and screw him for it. I'll never understand why nicholson's best game
Of his career was cut short by playing time. I know, we are tanking. I know, high draft pick...but Nicholson was shining....let him shine IMHO.
Afflalo is trash. He played like a rookie. Our sophomore played like a vet, their play time was mirrored to their effect.
With our vets playing like this, who the hell would want them?
Go

Anyone else shocked that Xavier Henry turned it on? Cause I thought from when he was drafted that he could be at least an Allstar once.

Go figure Harkless plays another solid game and I see people on here arguing about how he isn't skilled.
IMO....14 pts in 24 minutes on almost 50% shooting while knocking down 2 of his only 2 three point attempts.....?
Keep on trucking Moe.....maybe one day Neon1 will look past the fact that you are just 20 and still on the come up. Keep proving people wrong!

You probably didn't even see the game. Harkless was 3-8fg for 6pts 1reb 0ast 0stl 0blk and either fouled or had Paul George score on 9 of 13 attacks against him up until Vaughn inserted that garbage time lineup of Ronnie Price/E'Twaun Moore/Moe Harkless/Solomon Jones/Kyle O'Quinn with 5:22 remaining.
Where he was able to take 4 out of the final 10 attempts with that lineup in the final minutes of a blowout.
4Q 4:28 Paul George bad pass (Maurice Harkless steals)
4Q 4:16 Missed 18-foot jumper
4Q 3:15 Layup following turnover
4Q 2:38 Makes Three
4Q 0:11 Makes open three during the last seconds
Nothing was done this game to "prove wrong" he did what always seems to happen with him, nowhere to be found for 75-80% of his court time, with a quick flurry/burst of points. He had no positive impact on this game whatsoever, and STILL is getting less and less involved in the other areas like rebounding, passing etc.

After seeing him in the pre-season and reading a few articles up on him, I had a feeling he is going to have a breakout season. Evidently, he really worked on his game.

I was thinking the other day that the Magic probably could have traded Reddick for Bledsoe but the Magic chose Milwaukee instead. Because, in the end, the Clips traded Bledsoe for Reddick.

Well in the end, What Bledsoe is hyped up to be is basically what Oladipo is showing to be right now anyways, athletic, defensive, get in the lane, fill the box score, high turnover point guard.

He gambled all night on George. Wasn't impressed with his defense.

Re: Official Speculation Thread Pt.LXII
The young Magic were trying to do too much. Moe and Oladipo was attacking the basket like Afflalo going against bigger/taller guys who were easily blocking their shots. Then, they were both gambling on defense trying to force things to happen. I like the effort, but they need to calm down and let the game come to them a little more. I just chalk this up to first game jitters playing against a top 5 team in the NBA. It is a long season and the game will come to them as they get more settled.

I agree that his defense wasn't impressive but he was playing against a $90 million man who seems poised for an even better year. I'd take George against any 2nd year 20 year old in the NBA. So, Harkless should get criticism for his defense, but IMO last night's game shouldn't be counted as dispositive of his overall defensive ability now or potential to improve.
I disagree with your critique on his offense. He did well cutting to the basket, running in transition and attacking the rim (though he didn't finish great a couple of times, but then again, the Pacers are one of the best shot blocking and defensive teams in the NBA). Also, the hot mess of offense the Magic ran last night did not provide anybody with a good foundation for offensive success. Most of the offense was running through Vuc or Afflalo. I mean, by the standard you're criticizing Moe for lack of offensive involvement, you could also criticize Nicholson for "disappearing" in the 4th quarter with his lack of offensive output but is that fair or even accurate? Or is it the disaster of an offense that's to blame? I say its the latter.
