Trade 1 is plausible, trade 2 not so much. But the issue with the first trade is it kills a rebuild with Asik and Lin both having poison pill deals.

I was just gonna say that. This isn't in our best interest if we're looking to rebuild. Those two have PPPs and will hurt our capspace moving forward. I want to move them both desperately but if we're not getting picks/prospects/expirings in return, then it really makes no sense.

I hope Masai is quietly shopping them, I really believe there's a deal out there for them both but it's early now and GMs will want to see how their team performs. My hope is Masai can move them before the 10-12 game mark. That should be enough time for GMs around the league to see if they want to make any changes or not.

The truth is it will be difficult. Everyone keeps talking about Charlotte and Detroit as destinations so those are obvious but Lowry plays at the most overpopulated position in the league and Gay is one of the most overpaid players in the league. So it definitely won't be easy to find a team that has assets we want and has the need for those guys. I really, really expect them to be dealt to Charlotte because they have to make a few moves but we'll see.

Dragic is older than Lowry. Smh

Nope, Lowry is older.

A "healthy Lowry" is also an oxymoron.

The only thing Lowry is better at than Dragic is rebounding.

Is there any sort of variation on a deal with the Bobcats that might make sense?

Rudy Gay
Kyle Lowry

For

Ben Gordon
Bismack Biyombo
Ramon Sessions
2016 first round pick, unprotected

Charlotte goes all in, we gather up picks in 2016 giving us 3, also ensuring a high pick in this upcoming draft.

Thoughts? Not enough value?

The best trade partner for Rudy Gay would be Cleveland imo. They need a SF and I still don’t think they are sold on the whole Lebron coming back. I know it’s been a rumour for awhile now, but I can’t see it happening unless Miami completely drops the ball in the upcoming playoffs.
So:

Out: Rudy Gay

In: Tristan Thompson
Anderson Varejao (if Bynum actually plays this year)
1st Rd Pick

For us this means full tank mode, we get a young starting PF and C and a draft pick next year or 2015.

Cleveland has a starting lineup of:
Irving
Waiters
Gay
Bennett
Bynum
Pretty impressive if healthy.

OMG he's two months younger, what a youth movement we'd be on!

No way we get that return for Rudy.

We step back from 7th-9th and move into the 11th+ category

.......Not sure if serious...

what good does this trade do us? Dealing two of our best players for an expiring deal and a worse PG? Would it not make sense to try and get at least a pick or a prospect if we're dealing these guys so we can get a better pick?

This deal makes no sense

It's not supposed to make sense in terms of short term (which most of of the proposals in this thread do) - it's a long term deal that allows us to move away from KL+RG and more towards securing draft position in 2014.

Many fans may enjoy a 7th-9th finish but that is stupid imo.

I've never played the "trade game" before, but what would you guys envision us getting in a trade for JV?

I don’t think it’s that much really. You get a young PF that isn’t needed on their team. A lotto pick that’s in the late teens and a expiring in Varejao. They won’t be able to keep Varejao after this year, unless they want to pay 25 mil or so for 2 centers.

Even if they're deep at PF, you can't look at a talent like Tristan and say he's not needed. The guy is going to be a double-double machine. AV is still a very serviceable player and teams would covet having him (ex. OKC). And then a pick to boot. It's too much for what could end up being 1 year of Gay.

Well like most, I feel Jonas is as close to untouchable as this team has got. As for what he'd fetch, I remember hearing rumours surrounding JV + filler for Harden. I'd say a player of Harden's skill level or another young promising player (think DeMarcus Cousins minus the baggage).

That's right the Harden rumour, forgot about that. Look what Harden in Houston led to now, they lured Howard because of it and will be one of the best teams in the league this year.

Harden + Howard in Raptors uniforms? Hard to imagine.

Houston trades:
Jeremy Lin
Donatas Motiejunas
2014 NY 2nd

Toronto trades:
Kyle Lowry
Steve Novak

We got a PG locked up for 2 years instead of 1 and who's younger than Lowry, plus a few other assets. HOU improves with getting Lowry and Novak back

I'd do it. I doubt Houston does though.

Maybe it'd just be Lin for Lowry/Novak

Unless they are throwing Kevin McHale into the deal there is no way Lowry goes back to Houston.

Masai has already said he's not trading away his players for nothing/expirings.

That's exactly what the Indy deal is and Dragic do not want.

I'm just watching this Warriors/Lakers game and was pondering if Klay Thompson could be getable. I doubt it, but I was just wondering.

I doubt the Warriors are going to be dealing Thompson. SG is a shallow position in the NBA and Thompson looks like he could be a Martin type SG. They can't keep both Klay and Harrison and because they signed Iggy, I think they trade Barnes.

Right now it's really questionable which one of Barnes/Thompson they trade but at this point I say they keep Barnes and trade Thompson.
