Only saw the CHI/MIA game, and I really did not like the SG rotation of Butler/Dunleavy/Hinrich for Chicago. I haven't played with the checker to see what the options are, but I think they need to move Deng for a true SG. Then Butler and Dunleavy move to their natural positions, and you don't have to rely on Hinrich as much to score.

Dunleavy stunk for much of the game. Found his 3 pt stroke late after CHI
had lost any real chance of winning.

edit to add - when he came in the game off the bench, he appeared
to be their #1 option. Not sure how that is going to work for them going
forward.

Dunleavy at 3 turned out to be a disaster of near Vesely-esque proportions.
No he's not as horrible as Vesely as he can actually shot 3s pretty well.

Paul George is certainly very very good. But take a look at Lance Stephenson's line last night.

I had my eye on him in 2010; as a player he looked like a tremendous bargain who'd be available in the 2d round. As a person, he was trouble with a capitol "T." Still, I'd have found him awfully tempting had we kept the pick (we traded it to move up and get Booker).

A month or so after that draft he was in trouble for domestic violence -- pushed his then gf down a flight of stairs. I remember thinking "he'll be gone soon." But, somehow the Pacers seem to have straightened him out, and as a result they got a guy who may turn out a very good starting 2 in the league. In his 4th year now, he is still extremely young -- he turned 23 only last month.

Had he not worked out, he'd have cost them nothing -- no guaranteed salary to eat. This is why Round 2 picks are so important: high reward, very low risk.

Stephenson was sided to a 4 year deal rather than a standard 2 year second-round deal. I guess they figured he wasn't very likely to get into trouble in Indiana palling around with Hansborough?

He was widely viewed as talented and some around here wanted him but I for one didn't want to chance it with Dray around. My second round list had Harangoudy and Varnardo on it but was happy with the trade for Booker.

they're going to continue to struggle to score, they should have kept Nate Robinson but Thibs clearly didn't like him

"Debuts" hell -- that's one of the best lines by a PG I've ever seen! Wow. The kid had 9 steals!!

I watched a bunch of the Cleveland/Brklyn game (taped it): I can't wait to see how surprised the "experts" are at what a loooong season it turns out to be for the Nets, the league's most overrated team.

Dray had a nice game heh heh. He might be back to "the Dray of old" in more ways than one -- looked like he was wearing a down jacket under his jersey!

edit: Note that Cleveland did not play all that well, not at all. And they still won. Garnett and Peirce performed well for Brooklyn; everyone else meh at best.

Heading toward a quadruple double in his first pro game.

I've got to better navigate skepticism when YODA says a player looks good. I worried about Beal's college 3P%, I worried about Drummond's FT%, I worried about MCW's FG%. Logically I know better, but I keep getting caught on single stats of young, developing players.

Nate Wolters played 30 minutes, and well, in his NBA debut.

http://www.brewhoop.com/2013/10/31/5049 ... te-wolters

(Glen Rice, Jr. was a DNP-CD by Wizards coaching staff in his debut)

I won't say I told you so, yet, but it's probably going to get old before too long. You guys need to know I'm just mad at the Wizards because they take great ideas and free help and before the flush it, they wipe with the idea. It sucks the way the owner/management failed to seize the day on draft night. They do so consistently. They also seriously screwed up waiving the Gs that came with Gortat in the deal.

Meant to post this earlier, but caught a few minutes of the BOS/TOR game on ESPN Coast-to-Coast and man are both of those teams bad. Toronto's offense is nonexistent, just Gay and DeRozan taking turns going one-on-one for horrible shots. Lowry isn't a PG and Valanciunas can't get his own shot quite yet. Ujiri is going to blow that thing up quick IMO.

He's going to be a good third guard, and the Wiz NEED a good third guard - much more than they need a chucker like Rice.

I still would have picked Withey, but Wolters would have been fine. Jeff Hornacek Pt 2. Even if they are both white.

Phenominal game... and I'm still not a believer.

Yeah 9 steals isn't likely to be reproduced anytime soon, so I wouldn't take it as a sign he's going to be really good. Didn't Juan Dixon have 6 or 8 steals in a game his rookie year?

The thing is not only did he shoot well...he played solid defense, hit clutch free throws and only had 1 turnover...I think hes going to be really good...like really good...an average player dont do that in their rookie debut

Rookies can sometimes do crazy things before the scouting reports start catching up to them. When Josh Smith was a rookie (starting at the 2 no less) i saw him block 10 shots against Dallas without a foul.
Thank God we didn't draft the Fat Matador.
